Rather quick for the time period. Not as fast as a 427 Cobra or L88 Corvette though. I have driven similar cars from the time period, not very good handling or braking, but much quicker than cars from the mid 1970s to mid 1980s.

Transmission should be listed as 3-speed automatic. All 1969 M-code (440) GTS darts came with TorqueFlite A727 ONLY. Also top speed would not be 146mph, more like 115-125 depending on rear gear ratio, which were 3.55:1 standard or 3.91:1 optional. None the less this car is one I would love to own.

ya gotta love someone who wasn;t there.... if I hadn't rode in it it'd be different...my dad worked in the dealership ... I rode one new..... messed with this stuff all my life... 115-125 was small block teritory back then... had several 318s up to 120... 440 charger run a buck 30 -140 all day long.. what would make any fool think a little light dart wouldn't do it??? that 3.91 might start restricting it a little but it would probably bounce off it... so 440 with 3.55 no problem.... 383 same way.... hada 70 plymouth b body 3.55 rear 383 ...drove it back and forth to michigan to work it wasn't scared of that kind of speed... and wasn't wound that tight above 100 soooo...
