The car is, of course, gorgeous... But 27.5m bucks is A BIT overpriced.
For that money you could afford ~107 modern 458 Italias, or about 20 LaFerraris. Insane :D
"for that kind of money I'd build my own race track... :D"
Well, I doubt you could build a Serious race track for 27.5m. But your Own hypercar - for sure. Maybe even manage a limited production of these Supermachines that would carry your name!

rarity, uniqueness and historic value is what makes the price become so high, not preformance

@ br2
This is far from 'blowing your money' . People spending this money know what they are doing. Its an investment ! If you get your STI for 40 k selling it for 20 k after 3 years then you are the one who blew 20 k. If you have the money to invest 27 mln today knowing that you can sell this car for 35 mln in A Few years you ll make 8 mln . No office job will get you that kinda money that easy :)

I read Audi bought back some old Auto Union race cars for over 100.000.000 €...

"$27,500,000?! That would make this the most expensive car ever sold."
Nope. It is only the 2nd most expensive sold at auction. The 1954 Mercedes-Benz W196 (driven by Juan Manuel Fangio) sold for $29.7M.
There have been others that have sold privately for more like the 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO that sold for $35M last year.
@BR2+...
Cars in this range aren't sold for what they are based on what they can do. They are rare and historic (much like a rare painting or sculpture). Fine art has been sold for over $100M at auction. One of "The Card Players" by Paul Cézanne sold for over $250M.

Don't know why they would spend that much on a car, If I had that much, id be living my life peacefully and comfortably, seems like they have too much money, or more money for brains.
Pretty soon the first Billion dollar car will be here.
But unless this car can Fly, Go underwater, I can sleep in it, It gives me a message all over, cooks me 5 star meals, makes me a drink, gives me sexual services, gives me a haircut, can turn into a TransFormer, fly in outer space to distant planets, has internet, and live in it with security, has a V8/V12/ and can turn invisible, it aint worth that amount.
