I don't get how this is street legal when the even slower, heavier and weaker Ferrari FXX isn't. L-MAO

this apollo r is street legal along with the enraged, the non street legal apollo r is 860ps and 1100kg

User avatar

Please correct: 860 ps
And it's not street legal: http://www.autoblog.com/2012/03/06/gumpert-apollo-r-enraged-geneva-2012/

@Gordon Murry
Give me some proof.

User avatar

My gawd, this car is faster than a non-street legal Ferrari FXX!

Cars like this with a protected aerodynamic/racing spoiler will have to limit its 1/4 mile trap speed to 200 km/h and reach up to speeds like 300 km/h or less. Without a wing like this the car can probably reach 220-240 km/h in the quarter mile and reach up to speeds like 330-400 km/h (if the gears were to be long enough).

*"this car is not road legal"

Yes, it is not.
The R stands for race and the Gumpert Apollo Race is a ace car with over 800 PS.
Its topspeed is "only" 275 km/h (with shorter gears).*"

It is road legal.
My fault, sorry.

the apollo s was the car tested because that is the highest performing model that is still street legal. the apollo r is track only. currently it holds the world record for the quickest time around the nurbugring

User avatar

User avatar

Would you still say that if Saleen bought out there S7 TwinTurbo Competition?

User avatar

Anonymous  16y ago

This car would kick the crap out of the Saleen, especially on the track!!!

User avatar

Georg  17y ago

yes the Apollo R is street legal ..in the picture gallery of Gumpert this red Apollo R carrys licens plate and normal prifiled street tires.

According to Gumpert homepage they can build every version into a full race car under DMSB, ACO or FIA GT regulation

User avatar

not according to topgear

User avatar

Wads  17y ago

I think even the race version is road legal......

User avatar

Anonymous  17y ago

Not road legal

User avatar

Georg  17y ago

put it online ;)

User avatar

Wads  17y ago

Georg yes I know.... I added the lap time yesterday but then found out that the version they tested had 690bhp..... FL database doesn't have the 690bhp version listed.

User avatar

Georg  17y ago

I thought they have tested the Gumpert Apollo S not the R

http://www.evo.co.uk/carreviews/evocarreviews/210382/gumpert_apollo.html

means this laptime is at the wrong car..the Bedford time was driven with the Apollo S not R

User avatar

Wads  17y ago

EVO (who usually know what they are talking about) think there are 3 versions of the Apollo, the base 650bhp car, the Apollo S (Sport) with 690bhp and the Apollo R (Race) which is lighter and packs nearly 800bhp
