The smaller Jag of the 50's was named the MK-1 after it's successor the MK-II came out. I don't think it was ever called the XK-6 nor did it have a 5 speed transmission but a 4 speed with an overdrive option. It continued the reign of WINNING SALOON ROADRACING JAGUARS following the MK-VII with much more power and less weight, The Mk-II added a bit of weight but more Horsepower to carry the winning on!

The 1958 F1 champion Mike Hawthorn (who also won the 24h of LeMans in 1955) died in a Mark 1.
After he had a race with Rob Walker, he crashed in a tree and died on the 22.01.1959.
Hawthorn died at the age of 29.

This Jag is used to be an executive car. But as executive car, this car got very good performance in it's year make this car become a getaway car for criminal. They said the 2.4 Litre engine is more agile than 3.4 Litre engine but 3.4 Litre has better engine performance
