In the U.S. The 09+ NC MX-5 with retractable Hardtop weighs 2511 lbs Tops and produces 167hp (really 170hp according to engineers @Mazda)

0-60 times are 6.5-6.9
1/4 mile: 14.9-15.1

It feels much quicker. I think it has just the right amount of power to make it a blast of a daily driver. Any quicker and it wouldn't be as fun. I'd glad Mazda hasn't screwed up trying to compete in the horse power wars. I'd rather drive a fun car vs. one that is merely fast and can't exploit unless on a racetrack.

I wonder why europe gets a neutered 158hp version? That's how much the auto U.S. Version makes..

The "Drive" magazine tested the "MX-5 RC 2.0" (RC means Roadster Coupe). https://fastestlaps.com/article_photos/serres.jpg
I think it is the same car; It has the same engine and looks the same. I can send you a scan if you like. The time was 1.37.65" which is very good, similar to opel GT's time. "Mazda has 100hp less but its handling was superior in the track. In the open road where the drivers need to slow down in corners for safety reasons and there are many hypsometric differences, the engine counts more and opel goes way ahead" (Drive magazine #136 02/2008)

Shit Laptime in Hockenheim...shame on Mazda not to bring an Mazdaspeed version. With a Bilstein Kit German Autotest got 1.20min. But nonetheless a beautiful car.
