0-300km/h admittedly on the counters but 26 seconds nevertheless incredibly impressive.
The 7 speed transmission absolutely CRUSHES it, the time that is!
So, where are all the tests to that speed? Oh dear!

Mercedes Benz website in Uk and Us really suck, Bmw/Porsche/Chevrolet/Audi/Ford have really nice ones.

I just guarantee that the AMG SL is faster than Bentley Continental Speed. But I'm not sure if SL 65 is the fastest convertible (a lot of another twin-top configuration cars are faster), but exactly about Convertibles? M6 Convertible maybe?.. A pretty close one..
Ha ha! I know the answer! The fastest convertible is the Corvette 427 Convertible with LS7! It shall eat all them alive! AMG SL 65 is still too heavy in comparison to the Vette.

Considerably lighter, two extra gears...
Must be very very fast indeed.
This or Bently Continental Speed Convertible? Which is the fastest vert now?

@monkeypop
You are comparing your pickup banger that has cheap tyres with this masterpiece. Car like this can't have cheap tyres like your banger has.
btw. GT5 is the most realistc game ever...
BR2, 13y ago
Well, since were on the subjsct, if you want realistic acceleration and top speed(To some, or the most extent) Play GranTurismo5, the accelaration in those games from stock cars is just about spot on(With a few outlandish)

@Super8
I remember I had driven the McLaren F1 with a speed of 420 kph (262 mph) in that game, and what do you think, how people would call me, if I say that this car is able to accelerate up to that speed? They would consider me as a mental in a right sense, cause reaching that speed in a real life is just impossible! Comparing video games (even they are great) to a real life makes no sense...
BR2, 13y ago
@Super8
I also herd the Sl65 BlackSeries could reach Over 215mph,(221Mph), but that was from a MB article a few years back, i dunno how fast it actually can go, ive never seen anyone try, or seen or herd about a Limiter removal.
And LOL @Video Games, Great fun, but lol
@Monkey
Im aware of that, but cars should have the :Appropriate" speed if everything cant get them there, im guessing it prolly costs some money to limit and unlimit certain things in a car, hell theres even a 2k price to remove them..
monkeypop 13y ago
@BR2
Most "regular" cars are limited according to tire ratings. They come from the factory with cheap tires, hence the stupid limiter.
My pickup was limited to 116mph to match the rating of the tires. With the limiter removed it gets close to 140. Not that I really need the extra speed, just nice to know I'm getting what I paid for if I ever need it.

I've played using this car in NFS Hot Pursuit 2010. Even the spec in the game said 198 mph but when I drive it, it can reach 217 mph. This also happen to Camaro SS with spec said 155 mph but when played it can reach 180 mph. Ford GT from 205 become 212 mph. Shelby GT500 from 162 become 185 mph. I guess that speed must be when the car not limited
BR2, 13y ago
Gentleman's Agreement" my ass, tell that to Porsche..
Knowadays its all about GreenPeace and keeping these ppl happy, but im like **** them, dont bother giving a car 600bhp then limiting its potential, that is rediculous.(Praise Porsche)
Limiting serves no purpose, especialy in a Performance car, which there shouldnt be, back in the old days it was down to tyre technology, know its straight bullshite. if they dont want a car to go past 155mph, then give it 250bhp, simple.
IMO, No ar should be limited, i dont see a point to limit some cars to 155mph, then 174mph, then 198mph, its utterly stupid.
@Mental
The Older 65 AMG Models hit an Unlimited Top Speed of 338.2Kph(210.4Mph) By either SportAuto or AutoMotorUndSport.

@Super
Because German car manufacturers has a so called "Gentleman's Agreement" in which they agreed that they won't make a car (excluding exotic sport cars) which have a topspeed over 250 km/h. Nowadays it's become less relevant because there are more and more AMGs, Ms, RS's which have a top speed limited to 280 or 300 km/h or even more. And it's still not as bad as some German cars limited to 209-210 km/h in the US market.
