Way before my dad had ever gotten his hands on a BMW M5, he had one of these. These cars are very underappreciated, and honestly its quite disappointing, as they really aren't as bad as many people think. His was a 1970 model year, finished in Sublime green. It was not equipped with the optional manual, but instead was equipped with the Torqueflite 3-speed auto, which many agree to be one of the best automatic transmissions back in it's day. He also put a shift kit in it, and shortened the gearing, to make the little car much more potent than it already was.

Same car as the Dodge Demon (no, not that Demon, this Demon). In the '70s, "demon" was considered a religiously offensive cuss word (almost on par with today's damn), so they changed the name to Dodge Dart Swinger.

My 340 Dart Swinger(1970) blew away every 340 Duster I ran against. Don't know why as both cars weighed about the same? I used to leave 396 Camaros while they were sitting at the starting line smoking away.

One of my brother's bought a new '72 340 Duster. My other brother bought a beautifully maintained '70 dark green 340 Swinger in the late 1970's. Both car's were quick. I am sure the Dart may have been a touch faster than the Duster. The Duster was rated at 240 hp vs 275 hp for the dart. In '83, I scored a '71 340 Challenger convertible. In my opinion, the 340 is one of the greatest engine's ever. I still have my Challenger. She need's restored, but I love that car. If money wasn't such an issue now, I would try and find a clean A-body 340. A '68 Barracuda S would be a dream come for me.

Duster's were so underappreciated... interiors were bare bones but nice performance for a cheap price plus a good looking car.
