the one on the title picture actually has the 996 body - maybe less misleading if you take one of the other pics

Hell of a choice. I love both so I'd take both. This and the Merc CLK-GTR.

Where there actual street versions of the '96 GT1?
I couldn't find info on them

The 911 GT1 street version (544 PS) was tested by ams:
0-100/200 km/h in 3.9 / 10.5 s.
308 km/h top speed and weight of 1150 kg seem to be factory claims.

Those numbers are from a test of the Racing version, note how in the name it says "Race" instead of "Serie" like the test of the 996 GT1 and test for street cars.

> Viper is nothing compared to this...

If we call ACR a racecar for the road, this is even more so. This is in a different league. This is a purpose built prototype where ACR is based on a road car.

Thats what all the big shots said when the ACR came out......n look what happened...

I don't think the Merc would be as fun to drive or own.

There was going to be a GT1 997 but because porsche is now in so much debt it may not happen. (weep, weep)

yep the car in the pic is indeed the 1997 version of the porsche gt1. between 911 gt1 and clk-gtr... that's a really tough choice. i'm surprised nobody ever did a comparison test between the two, on a track or something. it's important to know how fast this type of cars are on circuits.

This or Merc CLK GTR? Which one would you chose to use and abuse?
