i wonder if there's any connection to the 458 italias engine and this one... very similar just down 20hp and 20-30lb-ft

Seems a bit like the Ferrari 458 GT3's F136. 550 PS, 4.5l, 32 valve... Only the torque is off, at 50Nm more than the RUF's.

@FL
Thanks for the link, it really is a great looking and sounding engine just a bit strange listening that noise coming from a back end of a 911.

Also thanks for your contribution to my English vocabulary, had to check what bespoke means :)

It is a flat-crank engine and it sounds like a Ferrari.

It is a bespoke engine. A wonderful engine.

Check out the 997 RGT-8 page https://fastestlaps.com/models/ruf-rgt-8, where i posted a link to video where RUFs CEO shows off the engine during the launch event.

Engine is 4.5 not 5 liter.
What I didn't know is that RUF is making their own engines. Any info if this V8 is 100% their design or is it based on some other engine?

V8? How?
It doesn't fit over the rear wheels like a typical 911 does it?
...Still, a V8 powered Porsche with a manual tranny is a promising proposition indeed! :D

@ Mental: I'll bet it is a beast, a Porsche 911 Ruf stuffed a 5.0 liter V8 into the back of. Where did they get the engine?

Here you got a sexy Porsche with V8 and manual gearbox. Looks like a perfect deal! But unfortunately, it doesn't approve the hopes... Performance is 318 kph of top speed and 3.7 sec to 100 kph, which is a bit disappointing. And it costs 295k Euros, which ,damn, is just incredibly overpriced. However, I believe it is a beast to drive!
