Only 63 horsepower, in America, there are All Terrain Vehicles and UTVs with 2 cylinder engines more powerful than that.

You are right FL.

Iranian fuel prices are 7000 Iranian Rials or .57 US dollars per liter.

The tariffs are quite brutal. From my research, looks as though a 1.4 VW Golf goes for about 30k USD. That is fairly insane. An identical Golf would be 18k USD in the USA and 16k British Pounds.

Huh, why didn't I think of going to Iran to sell my past Merc S350 TD? :D

User avatar

FastestLaps  12y ago

Interesting....

Why would government put such crazy inport tax on used cars? To make them artificially expensive and encourage people to buy locally produced cars, like Saipa Pride?

It seems like Iran is a mixed experience for car enthusiasts - interesting cars are impossibly expensive, but fuel, I imagine, is cheaper than water :D

It's impressive to see that a country that is under very strict economic sanctions by West, actually has a car industry and can allocate enough resources in between building tanks and missles, to make same automobiles.

the restrictions for importing cars in iran is verrrryyyy expensive

User avatar

A.Z  12y ago

you cant find 2003 s class
maybe you could if you are lucky
and it can cost..

User avatar

A.Z  12y ago

you cant import your cars to iran because you should pay money in gomrok(the money that gowernment get for importing I think in english it is restrictions)and it is much money it is between 50% to 150%

FastestLaps  12y ago

5 monthes ago an ix 35 was 60 milion IRR and now it is 135milion IRR

Doesn't make any sense.

As for the S class prices: how much would an OK example of, let's say 2001 - 2003 S320 cost? 25000$? No way!

Does it have something to do with the economic sanctions - some mystic import restrictions?

Otherwise everyone would take their old car to Iran and sell it for more than what it cost new :D

User avatar

A.Z  12y ago

we have no shortage in our company cars(saipa irankhodro and...)the roads is full of their shit cars like pride, samand ,RD and more
in iran if some body have a perfect car he never sold that because he know if he sold the car he can not buy another one
or if somebody do that(sold car)he do this in much expensive price

User avatar

A.Z  12y ago

in every countries if you buy a car you should sell it in less price but in iran you can buy a car and make money an example:
5 monthes ago an ix 35 was 60 milion IRR and now it is 135milion IRR

FastestLaps  12y ago

A.Z.

Do you have shortage of used cars in Iran like it was/is in Vietnam?

I am from Latvia and we have access to all kinds of used cars for cheap. Most come from Germany - it's not that far and it's dead easy to import because of European Union.

User avatar

A.Z  12y ago

this car burn 10L in 100km
and saipa sat this is a economical car!!!
in 2010 they produce 313000 car like this
they want to grow up it's price

User avatar

A.Z  12y ago

in IRAN car companies just focus on numbers of cars they produce trash
this car is more dangrus than AK47
I say this car is a killer
just think the top speed is very low acceleration is about one day but it still kill people
and...I dont want to say that but this is our family car I am so so unhappy about that

User avatar

Shaggy  12y ago

If the Iranians are building cars like this, we've got nothing to fear from them.
