Once king of the road, it's almost slow nowadays.

User avatar

baru  10y ago

the subaru is built for the ring....

User avatar

Jared  12y ago

times are wrong it is faster.
4.8 seconds if you use 3 gears to get to 100km
and if u revv 2nd high u can break 4.5 seconds easily.
also the 0 - 60 time faster than the 0 - 100km?
0 - 100km is - 62mph makes no sense that the 0 - 100 is slower than 0 -60mph.
also .96G skid pan

You people, seriously, the time is genuine. The car is a production version thats why Subaru STI released the JDM S206 Nurburgring edition. Just get over it and face the truth, that every factory supported production car that has been a PR Nurburgring show stopper is far from the factory delivered vehicle manurfacturers claim, ie. Porsche, Nissan etc etc.

-Mechanism-
STI tuned Bilstein upside down strut and STI coil springs for front suspension
STI tuned Bilstein damper and STI coil springs for rear suspension
S206 BBS designed 19-inch x 8 1/2J forged aluminum wheels (silver)
Michelin Pilot Super Sports 245/35ZR19(93Y) tires
Brembo 6-pot silver colored brake caliper with STI logo and 18-inch 2piece type drilled disk rotors for front brake
Brembo 4-pot silver colored brake caliper with STI logo and 18-inch drilled disk rotors for rear brake
STI designed flexible front strut tower brace
STI designed flexible draw stiffener, front
STI designed flexible support, rear
STI designed support, front kit
STI designed lateral rink with pillow ball bush (front inside, rear inside)
S206 engine balanced with STI
STI designed S206 ECU (Engine Control Unit)
S206 twin scroll ball bearing turbocharger
STI designed S206 sport muffler with lowered back pressure exhaust
Large intercooler with S206 logo
STI designed strengthened silicon intake duct
STI designed air cleaner element
S206 multi mode VDC (Vehicle Dynamics Control)

-Interior-
S206 RECARO designed front

that makes more sense than a Sti getting within 3 secs of a panamera
and how about that other 05 STI spec c?

User avatar

NIN  13y ago

the ring laptime is unbelievable...almost the same time as the Panamera Turbo S!!!!!

That 7:55 gets posted and removed every couple of months. It will be deleted again once someone gets around to it.

It has been deleted many times for obvious reasons (as noted several times by Georg and myself) but here is a simple quote from C&D...

Extra aero parts specific to this car include a full undertray, a front-lip extension tacked onto the R205’s lower spoiler, and a Gurney flap added—taped, really—to the rear at Mäkinen’s request. (The car was getting a bit out of shape without it in the high-speed sections.)

That ring time should be deleted, as you can see when you scroll down the posts, the car was not stock at all.

0-100 km/h in 5,2 s and 0-60 mph in 5,3 s? :o

@phavyarden

I actually know very little cars that have been unveiled there and I couldn't have the luxury to visit exhibition in person.

I think the Aventador is my favourite.

I red GM were to present European version of Chevrolet Volt (Opel Ampera). With these fuel prices I think a car like that, at least for me, is as exciting as new Lambo or Pagani. Probably even more exciting.

@Fastestlaps
You really need to add a poll about the best and the worst cars about geneva :D

User avatar

Johnny  14y ago

ohh thx george for clearing that up. All the sti needs now for the redesigned 2012 sti is a power boost!!

User avatar

Greece  14y ago

George what do you think how much horsepower in this concept impreza? Man this is great time and who care if this is modified car if is cheaper than panamera... With couple modification everybody can have car like this and this is great... Only 2 car with 4 door in 8 min Panamera and Impreza... yes STI is slower than panamera and car around on list but and a lot cheaper...The video said that it is a concept so why debate... Sry for my eng CHEERS

Georg  14y ago

@Johnny

they use many JDM only special versions like WRX STI spec C or R205 some of them are more powerfull or have a more hardcore stock track setup and at Tsukuba the track conditions have a huge effect on the laptimes even if it looks dry the time could be 2-4s different for the same car at different dry track test days..
I guess that is the effect if the track was used befor for a race were cars with slicks raced... in many cases the rubber of slicks and road tires do not work together... race legend Hans Stuck once explained Autocar UK test driver Steve Sutcliffe that you can´t do record runs on the northloop after a VLN endurance race or the 24h because of the slick rubber the track is extrem slippery if raced with normal road tires..

User avatar

Johnny  14y ago

Why at Tsukuba previous Sti\'s made like 1.05.00 and this sti does it in 1.08???? Can someone plz tell me what\'s up with that

User avatar

Viking  14y ago

@Georg I agree with you. If Subaru claims a 7:55 Nordschleife time, they are full of ****. VIR is the closest the U.S. has to a course somewhat similar to the Nordschleife, and the Subaru WRX STI is not even close to the Camaro SS in lap time. The Camaro SS has a lap time of 3:09.5 at VIR and 8:20 at Nordschleife. The STI gets a 3:13.8 at VIR, so it probably can\'t get much less than 8:30 at Nordschleife. At least that\'s how I see it.

Georg  14y ago

Thanks Car & Driver to show the world the BULLSHIT Subaru claims with a 7:55min "production" sedan northloop laprecord...
At this years lightning lap it wasn´t even in the near of low 8min northloop laptime cars like M3, RS4..it was whooping 8s slower than a E63 AMG or C63 AMG it was even 6s away from a little Audi TT-S, a car that hardly laps the northloop in under 8:30min...

Hope that test like this ends this BULLSHIT claiming manufactor contest about northloop production car records...

Happy new Year

User avatar

Georg  14y ago

the different between 0-60mph and 0-100km/h (62mph) is factory claim (km/h) vs real world test (mph) by car and driver

User avatar

Georg  15y ago

this is the production optional brembo brake

this is the prototype brake and the non optional Bridgstone semi slicks

User avatar

Georg  15y ago

deleted the northloop time again... the car used in the 7:55min run was heavly modifed...

closed and taped underbody is NOT STOCK..

fully build in roll cage is not stock

User avatar

VW Veyron SS  15y ago

There\'s no way in hell the production version of this car will go around the Ring in less than 8 minutes. The 7:55 time is for a highly modded STI.

User avatar

kingslido  15y ago

Please guys note that this car hit 60mph in 3.5s and quater mile in 11.7s.This is because ferare f430 f1 has thesame laptime with the current 2011 sti sedan.

User avatar

BumRush  15y ago

Nah it is, remember its all in the sources, some will be slower and some will be faster.

User avatar

Johnny  15y ago

Are u sure the 1/4 mile time is 13.5?? i thought it would have been faster

User avatar

Georg  15y ago

deleted the northloop laptime...the car was a testmule fitted with perfromance parts that will be not avaible in the production model like the 6piston brake caliper, full race roll cage, race seats with 4point seatbells, fully closed underbody fixed with tonns of tape to improve the aerodynamic...
