I have had no issues beating out the focus around here . And I am close to stock . Some of them are stock some where modded . But that's just been my luck this far .. the only one that gave me trouble was one modded close to mine with similar mods .he got me but not by much at all .

...Who even talks about Golfs anymore?...

User avatar

kevolution  12y ago

I see and read all debates here, but all I see is bullshivik feeding. The Golf 6 Gti 155kw can't keep up with the Focus 2012/2013 period. So what's up with these k@k figure? Are Gti owners who probably own this site so desperate. The G6 is weak...beauty killed the beast. I'm shocked that debates are revolving around other subject either than that the real 0-100 "real world" time of the G6 is 7.2s,and 6.9 claimed by manufacturer, you can't be that desperate!

RAV3N  12y ago

All kinds of wrong.. How can it also take 0.4 seconds to go from 60mph to 62mph?

User avatar

RAV3N  12y ago

How can this 0-100 be 6.2 seconds when the edition 35 has 6.3 seconds??

@tabo

sportauto test 2012
GTI(2door)
filled up to max without driver (curb weight)
sitting heavyer 19" wheels
1353kg = 2982lbs

currious how US magazines get the car over 3100lbs or 3200lbs

only the 4door GTI is significant heavyer than the 2door

golf3diesel  13y ago

@Fastest Laps, that is the DSG version(238 kmh in prospect) because the one that reaches 240 kmh is the manual gearbox car, which is a bit slower in acceleration

User avatar

Dear mr RSA, your comments make no sense.it seems that in RSA you never had a good taste of japanese cars. I am not a ford driver. a 1999 Nissan Silvia is RWD car with 187kw standard. Lets see a stock g6 gti go against that? A g6 is 10 years old and it will still get hammered!

User avatar

Po3sklap  14y ago

@keith: Hey, moron! What are you on about? Or do you just like it when other people think you're a poes? Here in the good old Republic of South Africa, we kick idiots like you in the head! So go back and suck on your mommas titty, you dumbass Ford Ka driver!

2900 lbs????

Car and Driver weighed it at: 3180lbs curb weight. No way in Hell 2900 lbs is correct.

Also, this site has the 3 MPS (Mazdaspeed 3) at 1485kgs or 3273 lbs which is way off. It's actual curb weight is 3152 lbs or 1429kgs. This has been pointed out like 20+ times yet the WRONG curb weight continues to be listed.

The 3MPS mk2 or 2009+ Mazdaspeed 3 weighs 3270lbs or about 120 lbs heavier vs. the 1st Gen MS3 yet the WRONG curb weight continues to be listed.

The EVO X SE ISN'T a whopping 344 lbs lighter than the EVO X MR.

The SE doesn't weigh just 3348 lbs as listed on this site. The SE is only about 60-80 lbs lighter than the MR.

a stock wrx bug eye should hammer this k6 gti. and old evo7 would so the same. A nissan silvia (s15) which is also a 2.0 turbo will smoke this gti. i can go on and on....

I looked it up, the beam axle rear suspension was used up through the 2006 model year in the U.S. and then was replaced by a four link independant suspension for the 2007 model year. I personally haven\'t driven a VW in years so I really don\'t know if they are still good hot hatches or not.

User avatar

Viking  15y ago

I haven\'t driven one of these in a few years, it looks as if VW is still making very competive hot hatches. Does anyone know if the GTI still uses a beam axle rear suspension? The last time I tried one for competition driving, it had a beam axle which had very little suspension travel. The consequence of it was it lifted an inside rear wheel entering every corner. However the front tires had plenty of grip and the car did good lap times.

I DID 0-160 STOCK DSG IN 14.7 SECONDS AND U GUYS KNOW THAT THE 1/4 MILE IS DONE AT 161 KM SHOULDINT U FIX THE 0-160 TO 14.4

User avatar

FastestLaps  15y ago

Notice, we have 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) not 0-96,5 km/h figures in car pages.

So there's nothing bogus or shameful.

User avatar

Anonymous  15y ago

some one please fix these bogus number my 2010 does it in 5.8 with out launch control and 5.5 with launch control and 160 in about 14.8 seconds
motor trend did it in 5.8 with out LC

http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/hatchbacks/112_0910_2010_volkswagen_gti_test/specs.html

and heres an other 0-60 in 6 seconds flat from utube

sorry to bother but these numbers are just shamfull

rxbkrs  15y ago

How can the 0-160 time be 15.4 secs, when the the quarter mile time is 14.5 secs, at 161 kmh??

User avatar

Georg  16y ago

@ anon

It was british best car tester who rated the Scirocco R over the RS ...

User avatar

anon  16y ago

and by the way, the focus rs is still regarded as the best hot hatch available to buy at the moment, evo, autocar, auto express have all rated it as such.
the scirocco was rated by one reviewer over the rs as its easier to manage the power, the rs is still quick :-)

User avatar

anon  16y ago

the golf gti base car is 24,175, for that you dont get bi-xenons,dab stereo, auto headlights, tyre sensors, quick clear windscreen etc etc0the focus st does! im not making it up mate, the golf gti is a rip off in base spec compared to the st,
it costs nearly 2 grand more! vw are having a laugh!

overpriced and not worth it, the st has the gti pipped in every way, and its 4 years older, get used to it.

User avatar

Georg  16y ago

the ST was in production together with the Edition30 and Pirelli ..the Focus RS lost it´s first UK compare vs the cheaper less powerfull Scirocco R ...

according to Ford and VW UK webpage the GTI starts at 24,175 and the Ford ST at 22,500 both stripped out of everything...with leather the ST starts at 23,488

the different isn´t as big as you try to let it look!

User avatar

anon  16y ago

the gti edition30 isnt made anymore, this model was replaced with the pirelli edition, also phased out with the mk5.
the golf r is 30k, so nearly 5k more than the equivelant hot hatches focus rs and audi s3 which, according to the golf r reviews, are both alot better.
the r32 mk5 was sluggish and thirsty.
in the uk, the golf gti starts at 25k for a bog spec one, no luxurys.
the st is around 22k with full leather interior etc, so 3k cheaper with more spec and nicer engine, the new megane rs250 is also 3k cheaper. these are both better at what they do.

User avatar

Georg  16y ago

VW has car´s abouve the GTI in the hot hatch segment and they have a GTI with more power than the ST... the GTI Edition30 with 230hp, there is the Golf R and there was the R32...
In Germany the home of both cars the GTI and the ST (like al Europen Ford models) cost exactly the same 26,500Euro incl 19% VAT

User avatar

anon  16y ago

Focus st is same 0-60 as the golf gti, is cheaper and 4 years older than this?! will vw ever move the golf gti where it should be?

how can it take vw 4 years to come up with a hot hatch with less power and equal 0-60 to hot hatches that came out in 2005? get your act together vw, this car is no good.
Hence why every ones no aiming to get the hot hatches that are moving the game on, ie megane rs250, focus rs and mazda3 mps, 200bhp wont cut it anymore. disappointing, really disapointing.

(and vag fanboys, give up, this doesnt cut it ahem georg)
