Such a feisty spirit here on FL. I thought Gerard Butler liked Porsche. Of course in the old days you could work on your own Porsche. After all isn't that what wrenches are for d###@$$!?

User avatar

cosimo  5m ago

this lap time is faker than global warming + bill cosby's sexual assault allegations

omg! another 911 with a douche driver chosen by porsh-uh to set a new lap time beating their own 600+ carrera gt and gt2 rs lololol

only a moron would believe a 500hp car can be faster than everything else out there with over 600hp, oh and the bespoke tires will require a new page, because pilot sport cup 2 is all the same on all cars according to poghsh-uh.

you agree hans ? ja! ja! ja! ja! na sicher!!!

User avatar

saxy  5m ago

So you believe the lap time is real. And you call yourself a moron too. I don't judge. Don't be too hard on yourself. Butler would be proud of you.

For a six cylinder it's the best value as affordable six cylinder American performance cars aren't close. performance wise and aren't as pure sports cars. With the Viper sadly gone you need to buy a Vette to get a better value. The GTR is more a GT and its engine doesn't sound as good as this NA beauty.

Porsche is a pretty straight shooter when it comes to laptimes. Ferrari is too when they allow their cars to be tested.

It is a bargain, But it's 13k more then the last, 911s are getting expensive, Still a great deal considering

User avatar

saxy  5m ago

I thought the last 991 GT3 was also like £112k or so?

User avatar

FastestLaps  5m ago @saxy

Guys, Opel Corsa ir close to £100000 in 2017. If Marine Le Pen wins, Opel Corsa will probably cost close to €1000000 :D :D :D

And parts also are crazy expensive. I blew engine in my Suzuki enduro bike couple of days ago and when I looked up parts costs I was not pleasently surprised that a 2x2cm piece metal plate (a piece of shit little valve in 2 stroke exhaust) costs 140 euros. And there are 6 of them for 1 cylinder :D :D :D

Somebody please kill me. I am quitting cars and bikes and moving to bicycles. At least those you can still get for only a couple of grand :D :D :D

User avatar

Fastedee  5m ago @FastestLaps

Got my Norco for 333.00$ Canadian in 2008. Maybe worth 100$ now?

User avatar

FastestLaps  5m ago @Fastedee

In 2008 you could buy a bicycle for 333 dollars. Not in 2017. Today for that money will get a very shit and very heavy bike with shit and heavy (and unservicable) fork and crappy groupset.

User avatar

Fastedee  5m ago @FastestLaps

I got a Mountain bike from an Ottawa WalMart for 95$ in 2003. Cripes it was heavy! Lol

User avatar

FastestLaps  5m ago @Fastedee

With all the carbon and alloy development that has happened in past 10 years, you would think that budget bikes today would be much lighter than cheap bikes in 2003 and that midrange of 2017 would be as light or lighter than top end of 2003.... but it's not really true - again its inflation and you don't get the same value for money you used to get.

My point is - inflation is faster than innovation. This applies to cars, bikes, bicycles - all kinds of mechanical machines and equipment. It does not apply to electronics - even though there is no longer no damn Moore's law in action, pace of improvement in semiconductors is still MUCH faster than inflation.

The most damning thing is that in the end you still have to buy both - machines because they wear out and electronics because they become obsolete... You just have to buy - buy buy buy, spend spend spend. And that's how the world works...

As far as im able to remember, The 991.1 model GT3 Started at around, £102,340, This new one is £111,805, In the US it started at $130,500, Know its $143,600, Germany at €138,850 now €152,420, I may be off by a few quid give or take, But those are roughly it, And considering there isnt any huge change, Id say thats quite the significant price difference between a facelifted model.

Hell i remember back in 2007 when the 997.1 was here it started at around £60,000. now for the base model its approaching £80,000, Porsches were never cheap, But these price variances for the next model or facelifted models are getting ridiculous..

User avatar

saxy  5m ago @BR2+

Yeah, but isn't it the same across the board? The Audi R8 V10 a few years back was 100K. And the Mclaren 720s is 210+K, when those cars used to be in the 150-160 range.

The world is getting richer so luxury items will follow. Quick look at the all time highs in the NYSE and Nasdaq, you know people are rich.

User avatar

BR2+  5m ago @saxy

It depends on the company, Or the overall price of the car, An R8 V10 will set you back 124k today, Back in 2011 it was around 110k give or take, Wheres a Camaro or A4 is roughly the same as its previous.

User avatar

saxy  5m ago @BR2+

Like I said, it's the luxury items.

User avatar

For a car at this price, it's nearly the bargain of the century for a sportscar.

I'm sure Cosimo is too upset about this that he still can't afford one

User avatar

cosimo  5m ago

why would i be upset of a shitty company that shares parts with vw and audi ?

audi performante
audi spyder
audi rantador
911 beetle 3
911 golf turbo
911 polo targa

and the list goes on.........

User avatar

cosimo  5m ago

cam angle is skeptical and of course, this is the next gt3 which means, it has to be faster or chief engineer will be replaced.

seriously, this is an old game porker has pulling off since nissan bitch slapped them with the gtr.

I think it depends on how much it actually weighs, Like im sure an S65 AMG center console weighs ALOT more then a GT3 console, So i believe it depends on the car, I remember when the 2010 ACR had that HardCore Package option that did the same thing and that shaved 51Lbs of its weight with the same thing, But either way, The real question is, Just how much weight is actually needed to actually show results in performance? And where was that weight at? Cause positioning will have an effect, But how much is the bigger question? Specially if its just actual weight.

But also i find it rather strange that i looked thru all those country's own Porsche site, And there all very well know sites....Cept Latvia lol(FL) Yet Canad was the only one with that option...And i think thta Canadian road regulations are very similar to American regulations, Which are just ridiculous to begin with, Hell they dont even have that option on there UK website here, And we dont give a damn about road safety as you could drive a cardboard box with wheels and get it registered...

..But even ill admit, 12s off from a facelift/ Does seem a "Bit" fast.. But at the same time its a Ring time, And its not like thats surprising..

Porsche will use whatever options to help such as audio delete, lighter battery, removal of a/c (the GT2RS had those options). I found the audio delete option on the Australian site because I wanted something in English.

It's on the German site, too (Entfall Audiosystem PCM (aber mit Track App)

User avatar

BR2+  5m ago @NIN

That is interesting, The delete option does not show up when I visit Porsche Germany, I only get 3 options, Bose, Vehicle tracking n digital radio..

User avatar

saxy  5m ago

Well that clears things up. Honestly, I would never have doubted this car could do this time anyways. But how much laptimes does removing a consol do really...

User avatar

BR2+  5m ago

I just checked with Porsche UK, USA, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain, China, Brazil, Russia, Latvia, Australia, Korea, And the only one that ive had success with is Porsche Canada, They, As far as the countrys i have checked with, Are the only ones so far that offer the audio and communication systems delete, Hell even Germany doesnt offer it, Pretty much every where else just offers a black or color matching rollcage and a harness for both seats. This is what it says.

Deletion of audio and communication system, Under Audio options.

Storage compartment in the centre console in place of the audio and communication system (PCM, Connect Plus, Sound Package Plus). Support for the Porsche Track Precision app, available as standard, retained so that, even with this option, your driving stats can still be displayed in detail, logged and analysed on your smartphone. Note: USB interface in glove compartment also deleted. Retrofit of audio and communication systems not possible

So as far as the center console missing, It has been solved, And is completely legitimate. But i sill find it interesting that the in cabin look was so damned small.......And i still cant see the passenger seat..

User avatar

BR2+  5m ago

..From what i can tell, The center console has been removed, And the front seat has been completely replaced, Cant even see the passenger seat, I say delete it. Cages are fine, Seats are arguably questionable, But removing the center console(Screen) is not necessary, Delete the time as it is not legitimate.

User avatar

saxy  5m ago

Damn, why do they still do that

User avatar

DrDuke  5m ago

the driver seat was replaced but the co-driver seat is just leaned back. You can see the headrest in the lower left corner of the 2nd view.

User avatar

BR2+  5m ago @saxy

I dont see any reason for them to remove the center console, I also find it strange they made the cockpit view really lily tiny..

User avatar

NIN  5m ago @BR2+

Porsche offers a "Deletion of audio and communication system" option in some markets. Seriously, you can get the car without audio.

User avatar

cosimo  5m ago

the usual pre-production car lap time to boost sales, nice move vw2 cheaters

User avatar

saxy  5m ago

Well the car was more than sold out for a year before this video came out. I think they didn't need any extra help

User avatar

saxy  5m ago

For the longest time, Porsche just claimed a certain Nurburgring time for their 911s. Finally they actually went to do it. Very impressive for a car of that price bracket and without the help of turbo chargers.
