don't you worry, I know very well how "nobody cares."
...but 3 years ago, at the time of "how ferrari spins", a lots of people worte how the cars MUST be 101% stock, and just the precence of one eng. on track = media manipulations ;)

User avatar

Hamcee  11y ago

its the truth, but nobody cares.
a lot of manufactures (basically everybody) sets up their cars for specific tracks.

its not a secret and not worth to mention.

...thanks for " -1 "
why? It's just the truth!
It's funnmy to see such indifference, when 3 years ago was enough just one engineer who ranged the tire pressures (0.14 bar...) to unleash polemics ;)

According with quattroruote, this lambo has a tuned setup
the day before the review, Giorgio Sanna (lambo chief drover)and a support-team did a long etst @ Vairano "to develop the best setup possible"
...ooops
about Pzero trofeoR, QR write "surely this tyres give a big hand @ Vairan, in slow and fast corner both!"

@Luque
How would you quantify - on dry track - the advantage of the PZero trofeo R over the PZero corsa and PZero?
1.0% and 1.8% maybe?

User avatar

I confirm the lap time even though the Pirelli PZero trofeo R is only formally road legal and in reality (as described by Pirelli) a pure dry track day tyre with ridiculously dangerous characteristics on wet roads.
Check the link provided by Luque a good week ago!

I think a GT car is the one that is comfortable to drive on the road, is luxurious and still fast and sporty enough. One of the best example i think is the Aston Martin Vanquish. Also the M6 and F12. But a 911 Turbo doesn't seem like a GT cars because it's more of an all out sports car with that monstrous acceleration off the line and small proportions and nimble handling plus relatively stiff suspension. I remember watching the test by fifth gear where they compared the 997 911 turbo S to the GT-R on the track and Jason Plato said the Porsche's suspension was super stiff.

I agree 70%

@ BR2+: To me, a GT car has a front engine rear or all wheel drive layout, a decent sized trunk or hatch, and is well equipped and comfortable.

User avatar

BR2+  11y ago

Well, Most GT cars have a ride height above 50Inches, and have softer suspension then the latter, and are more comfortable then the average performance car. And a big boot too.(Or bigger) There really is no SET definition of SuperCar/SportCar/GrandTourer etc, atleast not any more.

The LP700 is not as comfortable as any of the cars I listed, Isnt as luxurious, and has a smaller boot, But you cant use engine displacement as a disadvantage in regarding a GT Car, that doesn't matter, however, most GT cars are Front engine. Porsche 911s here are Luxury cars, Comfy, good sized boot, no ridiculous proportions, easy to get in/out of, You can count a LP700 as a GT car, but I CERTAINLY wouldn't.

@BR2 Aventador might not be a true GT car as some of the ones you mentioned, but it is as luxurious or more than some of the ones you mentioned( soft suspension doesn't count), so can't it be called a GT car if its luxurious and comfortable and you can use it daily as the rest of the cars? Also how is the 911 turbo a GT car? Its rear-engined and AWD and shares all the high performance aspects of any supercar, maybe just not the looks. And im sure it has a stiff suspension as well, like the Aventador. Is it a GT car cus you can put more luggage in it? Or cus it looks more sedated?

New Track Record For This Track.

in any case, the fact that it is not a GT car just makes the lap that much more disappointing, considering that it's supposed to be their fastest car, it's not like this is the first time either, the Murcielago also got beaten by earlier Gallardo variants as well (Ferrari also had it's 599 get beaten by both the 430 and 458 as well), which to me just doesn't seem right.

User avatar

BR2+  11y ago

Not sure bout that luxury part either, But as like a SuperCar or SportsCar, a GT car is as definitive as either one, , SupeCar=Super, SportsCar=Sporty, GrandTourer=Comfortable cruiser with both aspects of a SC and SC, So I definetly wouldn't count the LP700 as a GrandTourer, SLR yes,599 Yes, Continentag GT Yes, M6 Yes, CTS-V Coupe Yes, California GT Yes, XKR 5.0 Yes, C63 AMG Yes, 911 Turbo Yes, Aventador no.

Just don't see it, but to each there own.

User avatar

lamboboy  11y ago

It sure has a luxury part down. And is there a proper definition for a GT car according to which the Aventador cannot be classified as a GT car?

User avatar

BR2+  11y ago

Aventador a GT car?...Not sure bout that one..

User avatar

great laptime though, very unexpected

User avatar

Maybe it's just me, but I find it a little bit disappointing that both Lamborghini's and Ferrari's flagship V12 cars under $1000000 of course (the F12 and Aventador) are slower than their "little brothers" (the 458 and gallardo) I know the F12 and Aventador are GT cars but still...

User avatar

Shaggy  11y ago

@ Viking: I remember when the Gallardo first came out, it was the first time in decades that Lamborghini had more than one model in its line-up, I thought the Gallardo was a good idea, (I was right). ;)
