Yeah I knew it all along. They are just a bunch of normal people who review the cars and get their hands on supercar for fun,its no wonder why some manufacturers block the magazine from testing their car.And also on Ferrari Chat I heard that F1 had burn't its clutch and was tested on poor tires in the R&T Ameritech F1 by the friend of the owner in this forum.

Cup 2s on 488 in QR test.
Chanante 8y ago
Excuses? lol. You don't want to see the evidence, its is a other test, different car, different conditions and diferents tyres. In the text put clearly who cars had Semi Slicks and they don't name a 488 because his tyres wasn't a semi slicks. You don't need to cry, 675 LT is really fast, with Trofeo R is the faster without it its very different.
Murmur 8y ago
Sorry Ferrari haters, in the autocar test the 488 had neither Super Sport's nor Sport Cup 2's, it had Pirelli P Zero:

That's BS manone, I've already posted links, it was a same day group test.
See car at 2:04 on Hockenheim lap, 675 has to move over early. Scruffiest corner ever.
No they ain't, the 488 makes a higher km trap in the QR test, that shouldn't be possible.
Chanante - The 488 has never been supplied for a test on anything other than Cup 2s and you can see this in the actual pictures in the magazine.

The 488 was hammered at Vairano (by 1.4s) with an Italian magazine and it was an unusually fast 488 too, see quarter trap speed and standing km trap speed. Don't be confused by different day tests and laps where the LT had to deal with traffic, like at Hockenheim Short.
quattroruote comparison recorded the times months apart: 488's was taken before may 2016, thus it is certainly not a same day-same conditions test.
675lt's hockenheim time is as clean as any; the traffic might be in your brain, not during sportauto's lap.
488 and 675lt acceleration times are coherent with their power to weight ratios and drag. the 675 initial advantage slowly evened up at higher speeds, where drag takes over.
quattroruote is an italian magazine and as such you should expect to be biased **against ** italian car makers. yes, that's how italians' logic works. having said that, it is the most balanced car magazine out there probably and yes, if these lap times had been confirmed in a same day test, 488 would have not challenged 675lt, tyres being the same.

The Cup 2 is the tyre they've supplied the car on to every test, go research it. 488s on Cup 2, do not have the same time on track as the LT in same day tests at all and this one was only the LT Spider remember. The 488 was hammered at Vairano (by 1.4s) with an Italian magazine and it was an unusually fast 488 too, see quarter trap speed and standing km trap speed. Don't be confused by different day tests and laps where the LT had to deal with traffic, like at Hockenheim Short.

Ferrari would not supply a 488 for a track test on MPSS and there is no record of them having done so elsewhere.
Chanante 8y ago
Cup 2 is an optional tyre. 675lt is a spyder version (slower than coupe). 488 with cup2 have the same time in the sort track than 675lt. 488 with cup 2 distroy 570s with more than a 1.5s in a minute track, in this case 488 can do 1:35.5 or better with cup 2. In the test cleary said that 488 have super sport in the data box and they said in the obline test who cars had semislicks and not named the 488 Instead if they are named 675LT, 570S, 911 R, M4 GTS and Vantage GT8. Easily its not a typo.
sroser 8y ago
Ferrari have never supplied a 488 to any test on anything other than Cup 2s. MPSS is the option tyre for wet weather. The other links show this, they also show the LT winning by a similar margin of 1.4s on a shorter track in a same day test. Hence the 488 was definitely on Cup 2s.
Chanante 8y ago
Sorry, first its not a typo, 488 have Super Sports and in option a Cup 2 in the catalogue. Normally in a test track may be a cup 2, but in this test use Super Sport. And Super Sport is a great tyre in all conditions but in a track the Cup 2 or Corsa are much better, Corsa is a semi slick, in compared to Cup2 or trofeo R bad semi slick. I don't understand that you get to said with the pictures, all are of the other test very different.
sroser 8y ago
That's a typo. The standard OEM tyre on the 488 is the Cup2 and I'd be seriously surprised if Ferrari supplied it for a track test with anything else., because they haven't for any other test.
If is was 1.4s behind on Cup 2s, I don't see how it could also be only 1.2s behind on Super Sports in a same day test.

They've just never ever supplied it with anything else. It would also be very difficult to see the 675LT winning the review if the 488 wasn't on Cup 2s.
Also a mistake is saying the 570S had a better tyre. It had Corsa Systems. With Trofeo Rs it would be ~1s quicker.
Chanante 8y ago
Not. In the magazine puts the tires of the all cars and in box of 488 technical data you can real Michelin Super Sport. and in the web said this
"We leave it to manufacturers to decide on which particular tyre their cars are supplied, insisting that the rubber is either standard or optional fit. But, for the record, a good Cup tyre was probably worth 1-2sec a lap here — and the 675LT, 570S, 911 R, M4 GTS and Vantage GT8 all had ’em"
They do not name 488, only the cars with semy slicks (cup tyres like Michelin Cup 2 or Trofeo R).
