Probably the regular E46 M3 is much better buy, because I can imagine the CSL prices have gone to the Moon and Mars.

I think they are all due for full engine rebuild. The E60 is the same. There is no such thing as free lunch.
E46 engine is more robust and without known issues like the crank bearings. And you also get much better tax bracket as a bonus to spend on other repairs which will no doubt be needed sooner or later :)
Best car right now is VW Polo 1.2 diesel. And wait until the bubble pops and you get some good deals in the used car market again with all the plebs defaulting on their car loans :D
