Why would anyone add a GT-R to this poll? Next time, add a Golf R maybe...
People that want a supercar -> 458.
People that want a street legal track car -> GT3 RS 4.0.
Now how about that Golf R? It sure would make even bigger savings than a GT-R. Imagine what you could do with the difference... food for thought: 458 Italia, a Ferrari with more than 50 years of pedigree, incredible sound, looks, performance, everything you could want if you could afford it would be yours, or a Nissan which has 4WD (but you also could afford a Range Rover, so you're covered in snow), no sound (the Golf has that too you know), slower than a 458 (so is the Golf), a cheap interior (so is the Golf)...
So, Golf R or Nissan GT-R? Both compare...
This is typical Internet: the GT-R is in every performance comparison, no matter it doesn't fit or doesn't reflect the reality of the buyers.
What Ferrari 458 or Porsche GT3 RS possible buyer thinks of a GT-R? One that could buy the car, but would be left with nothing...

Check out fastest laps for Nelson Ledges Raceway, USA recorded herein as by a Dodge Viper GTS @ 1:17.30 and compare with my 1:17 documented on YOUTUBE video W1N6EI0hlnw from 5:39 to 6:56 with a passenger onboard and around traffic on the 1st FunDay of the year in 2009. I currently do 1:13s, on FunDays with street tires, which is as fast as the track record for SCCA class ST (Street Touring) made up of cars such as the Chevrolet C6 Z06, Dodge Viper SRT-10, and the Ford GT during qualifying and sanctioned races.

I voted for the 458 but I prefer my Caterham CSR260 as it is quicker around road courses with less effort, tire wear and fuel consumption and doesn't cost a fortune if I bang it into a tire wall.

I've voted twice, you might see the comment I put after my 1st vote.

Its on the 1st page and its the 3rd comment.

The actual point is though that I voted for the 458

It's a shame the number 74 crashed around 3 am est. I wanted to see another 1-2 finish for team corvette.

They seem to have the worst luck with crashes around that time. Then again, almost all the teams do.

Just finished watching 24 hours Le Mans (at last!) where both the 458 and 911 were outdone by Chevy Corvette in both GT subdivisions (so called "amateur" and "pro" classes)... Btw, the race was great! :)

We have to admit, good job to Corvette racing team.
The AF corse 458 lacked a bit realiability but it conclude race with some lap and in front of official BMW
Great race.

I spoke with a team manager of a Ferrari challenge race team about the 458... his words..."What a POS" he swore the hardware (nuts and bolts) could be gotten from any Home Depot or Lowes. He said compared to the Porsche GT3RSR the 458GT was garbage. I was kind of shocked, I expected him to tell me how brilliant it was. And then he said that Ferrari as a company, even when racing their car in their racing events is horrible to deal with. But he did say that it was a gorgeous car and sounded great!

@Georg: by now you should know i don't talk bullshit...
Here's the Grey metallic 997 facelift 500hp turbo with PDK and Chrono for 116.000 euro.
So yes there is...

@WOoOdy

there is not a single 2009 Turbo 500hp for under 127kEuro

http://suchen.mobile.de/fahrzeuge/search.html?scopeId=C&isSearchRequest=true&sortOption.sortBy=price.consumerGrossEuro&makeModelVariant1.makeId=20100&makeModelVariant1.modelId=17&makeModelVariant1.modelDescription=Turbo&minFirstRegistrationDate=2009-01-01&maxFirstRegistrationDate=2009-12-31&minPowerAsArray=334&minPowerAsArray=KW&ambitCountry=DE

if someone buys a car in a porno color with pointless list of extras like leathered sun visor, painted rear of seats rims and such stuff don´t need to wonder that he loos tons of money..
No one pays a penny extra for a sun visor wraped in leather or in car color painted wheels...

@Georg: There is a 2010 500hp turbo with pdk, and Chrono package and some more options for only 116k So from 160k (approx) down to 116, thats 44.000 euro in only 2 years!

And one more, lets see what you get when you have 141.000 euro... Yes a lot of money but the 2 year old! car was 195.000 new...54.000 depreciation in 2 years! http://suchen.mobile.de/fahrzeuge/showDetails.html?id=145466084&__lp=6&scopeId=C&sortOption.sortBy=price.consumerGrossEuro&minPowerAsArray=334&minPowerAsArray=KW&fuels=PETROL&minFirstRegistrationDate=2010-01-01&ambitCountry=DE&negativeFeatures=EXPORT&adLimitation=ONLY_DEALER_ADS&minMileage=5000&maxMileage=60000&categories=SportsCar&numberOfPreviousOwners=1&lang=de&pageNumber=3

The list goes on and on... 180k+ cars going for 140.. in 2 years.

Even worse.. a turbo s that was more than 190k from january 2011... 154.000 euro... almost 40k in 4 months?

@WOoOdy

thats correct ... as I claimed the 2009 997 3.8l 500hp Turbo FACELIFT was 145k...
but NOT the 2009 3.6l 480hp Turbo pre facelift which was sold till August 2009 ...

there is not a single 2009 3.8l 500hp 997 Turbo at mobile.de for less than 128k on sale today... all 110k 2009 Turbo sold at mobile are the 3.6l 480hp

The 997 3.6l Turbo started in 2006 costing 133,603Euro and increased till the facelift model was sold from september 2009 for 145k(3.8l 500hp)
The pre facelift 2009 stick shift Turbo never costed 145k Euro... that number was only reached with the prefacelift 997 Turbo tiptronic

Ferrari & Porsche should be even, GT-R'll be sucked.

User avatar

w0o0dy  11y ago

@Georg: the price in 2009 was 145k according to Auto, motor und Sport...

User avatar

Georg  11y ago

@WOoOdy

you have a very wired logic!!!

price new
997 480 hp Turbo
2006 133k Euro
increaed to
2009 137k Euro

2011 second had price ~110k Euro

480hp Turbo owner lost 27k Euro

997 500 hp Turbo
2009 145k Euro (stick)
today is not a single 2009 997 facelift for under 128k Euro currently on sale second hand (I never claimed the 128k as price new if you read carefully!)

so a 2009 facelift Turbo owner would have lost 17k Euro

both numbers are clearly less worth drop...
