i hardy ever use a seatbelt except after i have been fined for not using one. This might sound strange but if i am in an accident on a freeway i would rather hit the steering wheel and windscreen and die fast than a slow death or survive with a worse body than what i have now. This is my opinion

What\'s even more annoying is when you put something heavy in the passenger other than a person and it dings to put the seatbelt on.

Most cars these days make a bloody annoying \"ding dong\" noise until you put your seatbelt on. I always wear a seatbelt on a public road, but I\'m a farmer, and I don\'t wear a seat belt when driving on my farm because I have to stop and get out all the time to open gates, etc. But the \"ding dong\" drives me nuts so I do my seat belt up behind me!

Would it not have been a more provoking poll to ask if people agreed with seat belts rather than if they wore them. As almost every nation requires that seat belts are fastened by law it is inevitable that the results show an overwhelming compliance in enforceable policy. Seatbelts save lives, this is an immutable fact but also consider the cost to the state of having to scrape your lacerated face out of a shattered windscreen to then either sew you back together again or process your cadaver through the morgue. Most governments don\'t want to pay for this so they try to enforce laws that are proven to save your life and your money. Sadly there are those who feel such common sense restricts their freedom which ultimately impacts us all in the form of raised taxation, delays in receiving medical attention and higher medical/vehicle insurance premiums. To you all I say \"belt up\" :-)

\"This is not about your choice. If got into accident, fell out of the car into oncoming traffic and other guy run-over you -> you are dead. Your right - this is your choice, but the guy who run-over you got into trouble (at least his insurance rate will go up) - that wasn\'t his decision.\"

^^ This is quite possible the most moronic argument for seatbelt usage I have ever heard. My life.. my choice.

but seatbelt is by far the best, the most affective safety device ever fitted to automobile.

that's 100% correct, without seatbelts deceleration G's can kill!

Good to see that vast majority of voters always wear seatbelts. One can question many of modern safety features and driving aids, but seatbelt is by far the best, the most affective safety device ever fitted to automobile.

If I don't wear a seatbelt I feel like I am going fall out of the chair during trip (even though I have a semibucket seats lol).

In my home-country there is a huge part of drivers/passengers who don't. The stupidest thing I heard about seatbelts was: "I don't feel comfortable wearing a seatbelt. But if it would be 5 point racing belts I would definitely wear one". - Idiots.

you should always weat a seat belt, it only takes a second to put on and can save your life. Look what happened to Richard Hammond in his crash if he had no seatbelt he probably would of died. The seatbelt saves live full stop. But I must admit for just driving across a car park or 100yards down the road its not essential.

Yes, always. It has become an reflex, and I don\'t like driving without it.

User avatar

Always---especially make sure anyone sitting behind me is wearing one----its this guy who will kill you!

User avatar

Always, all the cars safety features are useless if you don\'t.
It really is very important!
plus it keeps you in your seat when you drive fast around corners...
I drive an RX-8 btw

on public roads always with seat bell...
Funny on the race track in the Clubchampionship I race never with seat bell... Karts simple do not have them... the little that protects you there are your helmet, gloves a racesuit and depending on the track I sometimes wear protectors for the back, ribs and shoulders

i always wear my seatbelt cause i feel safer this way and the airbags don\'t help in case of accident if you do not wear the seatbelt

User avatar

Always - and I always make sure passengers (if any) are wearing their seatbelts too.
(I live in Sweden where seatbelts are compuslary, even for passengers, but I\'d do that even without the law)

If i am driving like a lunatic and try to kill every person in the street why to protect with a belt? That is a stupid question i must say.

Pardon? what do you mean?

Never, I just dont like it.

Really pissed my off getting a seatbelt ticket while motorcycle riders rode by with no safety gear other than sunglasses. As an adult it should be my choice.. not the laws or insurance companies.

Yes, always, even for shortest and slowest journeys. It has become a habit. I feel uncomfortable driving without it.

Exactly the same for me. The same is true for my motorcycle helmet.
