58 Indian cars vs Chinese cars

This comparison may look a bit strange but it is estimated that in future, Indian and Chinese cars will be today's Mercedes and BMW's. So, it is important to look into which of these emerging economies make the best cars.

The Chinese, for starters, never really made their own cars. They were just copies of foreign brand. Even the engines, transmissions and logos are not spares nevertheless about looks. Moreover, the Chinese cars are really "coffin on wheels". Their safety records are one of the worst.

Now, lets move to Indian Cars. The Indian cars may not be a show off like Chinese cars but they are made by the Indians themselves and not pirated from others. As for safety, lets take the TATA Nano - It was rewarded with 4 stars out of 5 While a Chinese car which costs nearly 4 times the price of Nano got 1/2 star out of 5. Reliability surveys show that Indians vehicles are tough and will last for decades while Chinese vehicles cannot last for more than a year.

So, Which is best ? Reliable, safe, unique and cheap Indian cars or Unreliable, unsafe, pirated and costly Chinese cars at the price of which you could buy much better Japanese and European cars. You decide.

I decide not to choose them. I choose Thailand for Honda Jazz 1.5 (Southeast Asia model) and Philippine for Toyota Vios and Shelby Cobra Kit car ;D

@ monkeypop: It would most likely be Chinese, since Chinese companies usually just copy off of everyone else, most cars made in China are just cheap knock-offs of other cars, that goes for almost all Chinese made products.

While I don't care for either I wish the safety standards here in the u.s where more lax. Cars getting heavier and heavier is due to the crazy new safety demands.

I wish some companies still could produce simple cars with carbs and analog guages with limited electronics. They would be cheap, easy to diagnose/repair and last forever.

If someone was to start producing newly built pickups modeled after ones from the 70's id be first in line to buy one. But of course doing so in the u.s would be illegal :(

It makes no difference to me, since neither Chinese of Indian cars are sold in my country, but I'd choose the Indian car.

i asked a chinese car owner here in Algeria about its reliability he said that after 60k klms it is impeccable gas efficient and solid it doesnt need much care, he added that his Lifan 520 was owned by a compagny before him and that employees were not taking care of it as one should take care of his own car...so i bought a lifan 520 myself lol hell with Nissans Mercedes and Toyotas

Catching flames IN engines is not bad. All internal combustion engines do that. That's the intended behaviour.
