The Porsche wins based on a.w.d. and the quickest 0-60 mph time of all production cars. The problem with its predecessor (the 2004-'05 Carrera GT) was it was actually a tweener, taking on both GT cars such as the Ferrari 575 Maranello and the Lamborghini Murcielago, and hypercars like the Enzo and the Bugatti Veyron (which was actually released in 2002, but entered production about three years later) in terms of pricing, performance, demand and production; it is still not as expensive, fast, overappreciating or rare as the Enzo, but beats the 575M in all of these aspects. BUT! The Porsche 918 is a real hypercar unlike the CGT. Lambo, Porsche, and Bugatti are all VW's exotics (one of the brands is literally not as "exotic" as the others).

Why Audi A6 appears here?
Audi A6 is much slower than other three.

Man, shut the hell up! No offense, sorry, but everyone drives a midsize car but hardly anyone drives a Ferrari or McLaren.

if mclaren p1 had beaten the porsche 918 record, then they would have published it.p1 does not have claimed performance as far as i have seen in evo they used trofeo tires to beat porsche 918,on spa it was defeated by agera one by 5s.so same will be applicable to top gear track.it is not a worthy successor to mclaren f1 as it was 10years ahead of its time in everything and autocar even said it might be the finest roadcar the world will ever see.the p1 may beat f1 in performance, handling but not in driver experience, styling and purity.after 20yrs of time f1 is still a better looking car in my opinion and besides it is the only supercar which has 3 seats, space for carrying luggage, etc. autocar even said that f1 lm is the best looking car ever in this video

The Audi so far cause the others haven't raced the top gear test track yet

On the Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. Both 918 and p1 were driven and the 918 was the fastest of the two. But the p1 did also a god job.
Ferrari was afraid to lose and didn't compete.

Porchi is better than Ferrari compared in awesome drift control and steering control with flexibility. But in speed level its slower than Ferrari. This is done by the BBC testing video.

For several days McLaren kept trying to set a record lap on NN, it didn't work and they never came back. That indicates that P1 lap time was so far off 6:57, that they don't see any chance to be first?
Marc Lieb set the best time and he used to win the 24h NN race almost every year with 911 GT3 RSR. His record run was 7 sec faster than Walter Röhrls try, same day, same 918.
For that reason, I do not go along with the suggestions that P1 made it under 7 min and because of P1 Laguna Seca track test and no evidence. May be * Happy Aprils Fools' day! "McLaren have finally published the long awaited Ring record for the P1 supercar." is closer to the truth than one might think (just a speculation).

The P1 has set a time around the norschleife, sub 7 mins of course and quicker than the 918. Chris Goodwin was driving.. Lap time was 6.42. The performance of the P1 is unreal, being one of the lucky few to drive one the levels of grip from 600kg of downforce is just amazing. The 918 is also a very amazing and fast car. Straight line there isn't much between them all. When you add corners in the Ferrari is left behind and the 918 & P1 are too close to call.. Really depends on the level of driver.

I think it depends on the track if it is an slower track the porsche will win but on an more high speed track the ferrari will win and the p1 just sucks

There's a new Top Gear Track in France.. It's 2.1km long and they've added 8 lap times so far.

On the northschleife the 918 is the fastest, but on a faster track, I put my money on the mclaren.

User avatar

wrooooom  5y ago

lets see
mclaren knows the track best and knows what they can do and are not willing to compete against the porsche
then take 918 against laFerrari
the laferrari did a 1:20 around Fiorano the 599xx did a 1:18 around fiorano and a 6:59 around the norschleife
the porsche did beat the time of the 599xx and the 599xx was faster than the laferrari in fiorano (which is a similar course)
I think the race (if it will happen) will depend on the condition the cars are in (ferrari is most likely going to send a tuned out la ferrari with race tires and so on (same for mclaren))
if all 3 will be customer cars with the same tires i think the 918 will win because of 4wd

The Mclaren was tested at the top gear test track so it would probably be faster

No way, We have to wait for the LaFerrari to show up..........................................Wait...

Its not obscure, most of these Audis are 2.5TDis over here :)

I think it has a chance against P1. And our voters seem to recognize that as well.

User avatar

aaaa  5y ago

obviously the Audi, cause people are always adding ridiculously high laptimes for such obscure car models such as the 2.5 TDI.
