So true, I once took third place in class when the second place finisher had a lap time that was 0.030 quicker. That was in the late 1990s with my red Neon ACR against another driver with yet another Neon ACR in nitro green.
Competition was close in SCCA Solo 2. Randy Pobst won several Solo 2 Championships before turning to road racing. Tiny differences matter.
