the car must be compared with the same setup, the same stiffness of the shocks and springs;
then there are those who mount michelin super sport or cup2 can not be compared with those who mount standard performance tyres uhp
like golf mk7 R;
other important thing is the angles of camber etc etc:
(all angles are centesimal degrees)
* golf mk7 r and the other vag like s3, rs3 etc. etc. have a standard lady camber who goes to get the bread
-0.85 front angle degree and -1.30 rear angle degree;
a45 has -1.85 front angle degree and -2.45 rear angle degree;
m2 -1.50 front angle degreeand -1.85 rear angle degree,
focus rs has -1.50 front angle degree and -1.0 rear angle degree
m3 e46 csl has -1.75 front angle degreeand -1.85 rear angle degree

i would hate to be a focus rs owner at the momant here in the uk lots of engine failures and things going wrong with them.

The Focus wins the track battles which IS the best overall test of a car, but at the expense of fuel efficiency, while being more than matched in a straight line. A very close call, but true hothatches HAVE to be at least 30 mpg,

neither of these cars is much fun, you need a saxo vts to have a fun time, now that's a classic car.

All these golf r owners talking shite. Focus rs is faster in a straight line watch carwows latest drag race with focus rs, golf r, type r, a45 and rs3 the golf r is last everytime. My mate has a golf r with dsg stock and he gets beaten by stock rs's. Golf r is also a lot worse in the corners its haldex awd is a joke its basically a fwd car unlike the rs with a rear bias which also sends power down either axle

i was surprised at how heavy the focus rs is compared to the vw
I remember the first golf 4 r32 being slated for being to heavy against the focus 1 rs now it seems things have been reversed .

Golf R is faster because it has the hp claimed by VW unlike the Focus RS which has less (sometimes only 300hp instead of 350...which is a big shame by Ford).
If the FRS had really 350, the Golf would be behind for sure (in the straight..because on the racetrack the Golf just can't keep up, because the haldex system is clearly not as goof as the AWD system by Ford).
And the FRS holds its value way better than the Golf R. SO Focus RS for me... if I could afford it...
