The C63 (and its CLK63 twin) had no direct competitors, even against the M3. They were created not in response to the M3, but as league-toppers in the segment. AMG implied that by offering M5/M6 performance in the two cars the size of their M3 counterparts, even though the E63, CLS63, CL63, and SL55 already existed.

BMW did not originally suit the M3 against the C63. It was only until after the M3 got the LCI treatment and the CRT/GTS trims because they realized they were losing to Mercedes very badly, so then Mercedes responded with the Black Series (and the Edition 507/Final Edition to rival the CRT).
The M3’s actual competitor was…
