These are competitors in B Street Solo class in SCCA Solo2. I think the Corvette has a slight edge due to the power to weight ratio advantage. The Cayman should have better traction coming out of slow corners, and braking into them, but the Corvette has a lower center of gravity of better mid-corner grip. Could be fun to try competing again sometime since I think the Corvette is the best car in B Street class. Definitely something to think about.

@ Piorun: You do have a point there, the Smart ForTwo's throttle is wide open ad 60 MPH, I once passed one and the engine was buzzing like a swarm trapped in a pickle jar. Now I see what you're saying, so in this case, a Subaru BRZ, Scion FR-S, of Toyota GT86 would be what you recommend. They're nimble and fun to drive, but not insanely fast.

@BR2+
We can talk about very weird possible situations.
I write about the most of cases.
Ofcourse for many people is just fun to have a Viper or any car, no matter speed or anything just drive it.

When we are talkin about sporty ride or track session, things beceome diffrent.
People driving skill are diffrent and their "fun factor" is diffrent.
In most cases Viper need much more skills to reach the limit, and enjoy it on it. But its possible, sadly propably only for guy that is pro at driving.

In BRZ, You dont have to be pro driver to reach the limit, and when You on it, the speed is lower, its more predictable, is more safe. Maybe not so fun beceause of lack of power in BRZ, but comparing Cayman S to Corvette - it might be that kinf of situation.

But i repeat, some guy might like to drive some car for many reasons, he just might like it and so on, many possibilities, im talking only about ONE specify factor which is sporty ride/track session. And about most of drivers or just me. In individual situations and people things will be diffrent. Mostly based on driver skill.

@Shaggy
If driving a SmartForTwo on the limit is fun for you then yes, it would be perfect car.
But how good is smart on the limit? How fun it is? Its proppably TERRIBLE, there is no balance, centre of gravity is terrible, its propably unstable and there is too much of traction controll.

You propably misunderstood me. Its not only how easy the limit is reach to, but also, have fun its whe reached. Smart is good on part reaching the limid, but very bad on being on the limit. Not beceause of low peed but beceause of a lot of things, that it dont have beeause its not sports car.

@ Piorun: If that's case, then by your standards, the best, or most fun car made today is the Smart ForTwo.

I think limits are somewhat artificial, One may say its easier to drive a Viper then it is a BRZ, and the other etc.

But that's all in you and your driving style, A 16yr old boy can crash a BRZ just as easily a Viper, Its how YOU behave, not the car.

But on a race tack however more of the car is in play at that time since your going much faster then you would in traffic or everyday driving. Your foot would be mashed down on a rracing circuit trying to go as fast as possible, In traffic however, doing that would be someone called a "Dumbass" Certain cars with a much harder limit could become more dangerous then another, but wether that limit is a gap or a canyon, Its still up to the driver ion how to control it.

-Cars limits are easier to reach then its better
-When You drive close to the limit it should be fun and not so much dangerous

I couldn't disagree more.
The only reason something like an SRT Viper is "scary" on it's limit compared to a Subaru BRZ is because the Viper is going much, MUCH faster than the Subaru BRZ when it gets to it's limit...

Cars like the corvette and the viper (especially the viper) may be scary to drive because they don't have to many aids to help you out, but because of this it's also easier to know when you're reaching your limits. in some cases a car like the porsche cayman may be even more dangerous, because of the false sense of security, that the electronic aids won't let you crash, where as in a viper or corvette you may be more inclined to drive a bit more cautiously. but like br2 said this isn't really an issue as long as you're not a "dumbass"

That's because cars like the Corvette & Viper produce a lot more HP and especially more lbs-ft torque.
If you were to lap a track as fast as a CaymanS at 10/10ths driving with a Corvette/Viper you'd only be at 7/10ths and you'd be able to drive with one hand on the wheel and a drink in the other...

But guess what, in some cars You have more chances to it, and in other less.
At some point of sport ride, when You are on the limit, car like Viper or Vette can bite You, Cars like Cayman are more gentle ant it.

Ofcurse car do not kill, people do. But in some we have more chances to do it than others. Am talikng about sporty ride.

Please.

In real life, Its how YOU drive, not the car, ANY car will end up in a tree if your a dumbass that doesn't know what hes doing, You can get a Cayman in a tree just as easy as a C6, Someone can put a Dodge Caravan in a ditch just as much as someone in an F1 car.

People who end up in a tree, either have a genuine accident, or are people who shouldnt be in that typ of car, Or another word for them, DuMbAsSeS..
