The Ghibli is not exactly slow. Its 160-200kph (let's say 100-125mph) reaction time is only a tenth off the E-Class', with both being the top-of-the-line models.
Neither are blatantly underrated in the power department like the 5 Series, which tends to be rated at the wheels.
The Mercedes E-Class uses real wood at least. The BMW 5 Series, Audi A6, Volvo S90, Lexus ES, and Maserati Ghibli are your backup E-segments, and then the Jaguar XF is dead last (pretty much a joke car these days). The Genesis G80 is still quite young in the segment.
The Cadillac CT5 and Acura TLX aren't even sold in Europe, so those don't get any attention in the "benchmarking" department.
Maserati, being the flagship wing of Stellantis, should always have benchmarked Mercedes; save the BMW stuff for Alfa Romeo.
