The 911 Carrera S is much more aerodynamic, rear-engined, and obviously much lighter. The power-to-weight ratios on the two cars are almost the same. The 100-130mph deltas are also quite similar, with the Porsche edging it out by quite a bit even with less power and significantly less torque.
While one is a muscle car and the other a supercar, both share a common overlap with the BMW M3 (inline-6 version)'s segment. The GTO was an Infiniti G35 coupe competitor in terms of price and equipment (with both the straight-line performance and the handling metrics of a Mercedes-Benz CLK55 AMG).
