This comparison is very interesting now that we have Nurburgring lap times! Clearly downforce is not the answer, the Mustang GTD probably produces upwards of 1800 lbs of downforce while the AMG GT Black Series only produces 882 lbs of downforce. Weight is a big factor in lap times and the Black Series is over 700 lbs lighter than the Mustang GTD. Ford tried to compensate for the extra weight with big tires. The front tires are 325/30ZR20, and the rear tires are 345/30ZR20 Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tires. The Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series comes standard with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tires. Specifically, the front tires are 285/35 ZR 19 and the rear tires are 335/30 ZR 20. I think that Ford came pretty close considering the extra weight of the big Mustang GTD platform. Just my analysis and thoughts.

The AMG Black Series does weigh 350 pounds more than my C6 Corvette. Maybe it could lose some weight perhaps?
