aaaa, the 63 is 131kg lighter than the older 55. EU regs have cut into the way Mercedes & AMG engineer their cars so if I was to buy a used one, I would go for the ol'55 type supercharged type every time in any model of AMG. S55 & CL55 are especially my favourites. Never liked the CLS body shape when it came out but as I get older I'm starting to turn! The first couple of years of the 63 v8 engine had bottom end problems too.

I am guessing that the CLS 63 AMG's 6.2 liter is lighter than the CLS 55's Supercharged 5.4 liter. I suspect that although the normally aspirated 6.2 liter engine makes great hp, the 5.4 supercharged engine gives the CLS 55 an advantage in mid range torque. The torque advantage may be why the CLS 55 AMG has better lap times. Just my guess.
