Toyota is the only current manufacturer with a modular platform (aside from VW, but they use "modular" in a different context). All the pinnings and toolings used for the Lexus IS/GS can be transferred to the Toyota Camry/Avalon and vice versa. You can even switch the engine bay whether longitudinally or transversely.

The K platform used in the older Camrys was very restricted to a FWD/AWD artichecture, but the current-gen Camry is a true sports sedan. Also, I'm very surprised the V8 Lexus was outgripped by the V6 Camry.
