Yeah, but that was also the beginning of a new era for Lambo. Before that they were always known for incredible acceleration and top speed, but not exactly for handling.
And the first Gallardo did fairly well on track despite being heavier than the new Huracan. They didn't sell like hot cakes for nothing. And as for the Murcielago, 1800kg is still a lot for a supercar today.
