Top 100 largest car and truck engines 2026

Engine size and displacement is not a qualitative measure of cars performance or efficiency, yet, the myth of "bigger is better" is alive and well, even after rapid proliferation of forced induction engines with very high specific power output.

The old saying "there is no replacement for displacement" is debunked by modern turbocharged engines that achieve same and often better power and torque figures, and combine that with higher efficiency.

Despite that we all love big V8 engines (or even V10 or 12) and this affinity with "big" is rooted deep in our psyche and can't be shaken.

When electric cars become more common, cylinder capacity will no longer be used to represent engine size and the concept of "engine capacity" may disappear completely.

This list is limited by available data and new vehicles will be added as new data arrives.

Fun fact: I've added 87/100 cars on this list, which might be the highest percentage added on any list other than maybe the power-to-weight list, which I most likely also won percentage-wise.
