I dunno of Drivetrain would have anything to do with being a "True" SportsCar, Could be wrong though, But here a True Proper SportsCar is, Small, Opentop, lightweight, Maybe even Rwd, Decently affordable. Thats what many people here believe, I think the Miata is THE true sportscar, Or atleast one of them, Porsche Boxter, Bmw Z4, Honda S2000, Lotus Elise, Are all prime examples, But i think the Miata best iterates what a True SportsCar should be, It has great qualitys and looks fantastic, WHich Mazda woul make pumped up powered vesion.

I would't call anything front wheel drive a sports car.

Why?

User avatar

No RWD. It's a race inspired hot hatch, but definitely not a sports car.

I see your point, but judging a car whether it's a sports car or not only by the drivetrain is a bit weird in my opinion.

It's good for what it is. But it still has the shape and the origin of a small car. To me a real sports car has rear/all wheel drive and a coupe shaped rear end that doesn't go straight down.

So Civic Type R and Mini JCW are just regular cars? I feel like u dont know the definition of a sportcar.

User avatar

None of these are sports cars. They're sporty compact cars if anything. No FWD car classifies as sports car, no matter how well the performance or light the weight is.

This is true sport car. You sit there, and You are ready to race. No compromises. No doubts. No silly buttons. Clear task and proper car.
And the funny thing that its based on 500 and still is cute. So wow, Fiat did a great job here.

Compared to some hot hatch from my place, this one has better look.

@Flabernat: I agree.

I drove an Abarth recently. Very similar to the Mini S. Fun car.

One of the best looking Fwd cars eva! Ive always liked these Abarth SS 500s, And this one is thebest looking yet, Still 190Bhp isn't what you would call exciting, But im really not complaining.

The Fwd game is getting serious, Wonder when we will see Fwd cars getting "Serious" Like 911 Serious..

190 hp is enough for that car.

I hope that Fiat will achieve success with its small cars.

User avatar

Piorun  8y ago

That is a Proper retro racer.
Under 1 tone. I just wish it have little bigger engine, 1.6 should be enough, if they could squeeze about 230 HP from it.
