So why did Audi pull out of le Mans with their electric diesel power train? The new car is no powerful, if not slower, and heavier. The change in MMI also isn’t cool either. If I wanted a diesel Audi, there’s an A4 TDI already...

Not such a bad idea if the hybrid system is neatly integrated (also acts as starter, stop-start etc.). But this is one complicated car. In comparison to fully electric cars, this is like a Swiss mechanical watch versus 1980s Casio.

But it’s more than 100kg heavier now. But oh well, perhaps it’s a hedge on the market that if you really wanted something more hardcore you’d get the RS, the S is now just a nice straight line and A to B machine.

This car is made just becouse silly European Union regulations. I don't like it. It's unnecessary complicated> expensive and at the end of the day slower than the old one. I hate European union.

I agree that it is unnecessarily complicated. It has all the problems of a modern, complex diesel engine and all the problems of fully electric car.

It may not matter for the current owner who buys it new, but it will be nightmare after 10 - 15 for the second, third, fourth owner.
