Sometime ago i thought that the M2 was the closest thing to Alfa Romeo's and in general the Italian car stereotipe.
Lightweight, not too powerful, sharp and driver focused.
Now the most track M2 weights in at 1710kg, around the same of the Giulia QV, and it has become more like a muscle car.
I guess now the closest i can imagine is an Emira or a 911, but those are more SuperCar ish.

BMW our car only weighs: 1710 kg
Passenger takes delivery and finds out it weighs 1780 kg
This is the first BMW 2 Series that’s heavier than a early model Aventador LP700.

Design Analisis of the 2026 BMW M2 CS.
The car has a very boxy body, caratterized by very "Deep" 3D design details. The proprtions are good on the front end, except for those two lateral boxy air intakes. Moving on to the side view, the hood is too long to the eye, but the A-Pillar points straight to the center of the wheels wich is a great thing, the wheel arches have this flat final part wich isnt really good looking but contributes to the continuation of the 3D design elements. The front wheels are perfectly big but the rears are a tad bit bigger. Moving on to the rear, we find a very rare fluid line, connecting the headlights (and in the side view the lateral blinkers) passing by the ducktail, wich points up. The backlights and headlights are very static, conmected by a line that looks like it was made with a ruler. The rear diffuser is too "cheap" or more undefined if you will, it shows huge 90° Angles wich are a punch in the eye. There are some volumes that are great, like the ducktail and others that could be better, like the side indicator housing.
Pros:
- Aggressive.
- Decent Proportions.
- Great Rim Design.
Cons:
- Overall Boxy design launguage.
- Too many harsh angles.
- Heavy looking body parts.
- Too sharp lines.
- Too many static lines.
- Prestige gap is too big for a C-Segment.
Rating:
Techincal Rating: 6.2/10
Personal Rating: 5/10
Opinions?
*Green is used for good parts, yellow for "meh" parts and red for ugly parts.

They should have played more with the looks, the ducktail is cool but its not wll integrated, all elements on the back point down or at the center and the ducktail is the only one pointing up, disturbing the armony (wich was arleady almost unexistent). They did nothing on the front end and left those huge square front fenders. Still very ugly.
