It's scary to even imagine what a monster we will see if they added 2-3 Rimac electric motors to assist the mighty W16.

Mate Rimac confirmed last year it will be an internal combustion engine with an electric hybrid system. He also stated apparently the engine would be a naturally aspirated engine. I think Porsche are designing it and will eventually manufacture it, because there's no way Rimac can.

Matt Watson just confirmed he doesn't use rollout in his 0-60 tests

After only getting 2.59 sec 0-60mph(presumably with roll-out) in the Pur Sport Mat Watson now gets 2.30 sec in the Chiron SS no doubt appeasing Bugatti who probably threw a hissy fit after the video car wow posted. Question is what did they do to get that time?

I think Bugatti can shave off 0.4 seconds of their 0-300km/h time. They are usually safe on timings.

0-300km/h= 11.6 seconds
300-0km/h= 6.67 seconds extrapolated from Bugatti numbers

0-300-0km/h= 18.27 seconds

Current record 0-300-0km/h= 17.95 seconds

0.3 difference (estimated)?

Bugatti pulled that right back AND I think the Bugatti Pur Sport could actually take it possibly!

Very close indeed!

Oo

So Bugatti-Rimac it is then. Let's see what the future holds. The W16's are in jeopardy. Doesn't make sense continuing for a third generation. They've been CRUSHING it since 2005. SEVEN years straight official Guiness World Records holders CERTIFIED. 1600NM under 2000rpm to over 7000rpm NO E85.

Anyway I digress, if the rumored naturally aspirated engine plus hybridity comes off it'll be much lighter. That'll take care of acceleration 200MPH plus.

:)

Mate Rimac has very strong ties with other supercar manufacturers such as Koenigsegg, Aston martin. Bugatti's competition with other brands will be very interesting with this agreement. I think they will produce a sedan similar to Gemera rival 2+2 or 16c/galibier using Rimac technology in the future.
In fact, a road version of a car like the Bolide can also be very exciting.
Hopefully, with the new agreement, Bugatti's policy in Ehra-Lessen will also change. The connection between Koenigsegg and Rimac may also enable the use of the track to be opened to other manufacturers.

Quote>"A 2000-hp hybrid hypercar with a naturally aspirated combustion engine comes first, followed by Bugatti's first full EV."

That's MORE than welcome news. So a hybrid is planned that's good! But I sound doubt VERY much 2000hp with a NATURALLY aspirated engine is even possible? If it IS that'll leap from Bugatti to the very top yet again. But it's probably going to be a twin turbo V12 plus hybridity. Lamborghini can help. Or Audi. I mean it's not like their already NOT sharing the family jewels!

Hahahahahaha!

Quote>"But in terms of operations, Mate manages to retain control and ownership over the new Rimac group:

Mate Rimac will lead the new company. As CEO of Rimac Group, he will run both Bugatti Rimac and the new division, Rimac Technology. Bugatti and Rimac will both continue as separate respective brands, retaining existing production facilities and distribution channels. Bugatti Rimac represents the company that will develop the future of both Bugatti and Rimac vehicles, by joining resources and expertise in research and development, production, and other areas."

:(

To be honest I'm absolutely SEETHING. This is DEFINITELY Porsches maneuvering. It's a bloody WEIRD set up. Mate is the boss of Bugatti Rimac yet Porsche retains control according to what I've seen?

WTF!

@Hoppelmoppel123 Where did you get the 0-200 km/h in 5.2 sec from because it's wrong?

User avatar

ChironSS  8m ago

300-400km/h is just under FOUR seconds quicker than the Bugatti Chiron original 2016 production car. Not bad! Could've been ALOT quicker! :(
