you can never go wrong with a 454. Just get some lift kits on that bad boy and make it diesel then it will be the best truck...

Silverado would definitely win if the ss is stock they only have around 255 hp

what are the factory engine detail differences for the 1993 454 verse the 454SS, what gave the motor an extra 25 horsepower and extra torque from the factory?

The 5.3 hands down!!. But the 454 is a great powerhouse tho.

I got this kid a my school saying his 454ss can beat my 2000 Silverado 5.3 ls 70mm turbo single cab the truck make around 430 or 450 hp I can't remember the torque but what would win

They should bring back the 454, Hell Chevy Ford should bring all there late great Muscle cars back

@BR2+: Yes, Chevrolet continued putting their 7.4 liter V8 in pickup trucks and suvs until 1997. It was usually found in the C and K Series 2500 and 3500 pickups. But they offered a Silverado 1500 with the 454 as a performance package in the early 90s. This inspired Ford to make the F150 SVT Lightning.

It's in the link. They tested it. Maybe the power is underrated by the manufacturer.

What's wrong with adding pick up trucks to this site? I hope they add more. But honestly, this truck couldn't finish the 1/4 mile in 15.8 seconds falling from 1/4 above the ground. It'd need a power to weight ratio of around 13 LBS per horsepower, The Silverado 454 SS has 17.4.
