Jeremy Clarkson said the 599 GTO is too hard to drive fast. But hey maybe she can handle it. Her daddy should know.

If one thinks given a 425Bhp Camaro SS for there kids 16 year old is ridiculous, Then this is one of if not THE most fkn stupid moves a parent can do.

Obviously not the 1st car isnt bad...But the 2nd....But hey, I hope he prepares for her funeral..

kids are simply not responsible enough to run around in fast blazing cars. That being said, I wouldn't mind it having good brakes.

@Flabernat: I'm not so much opposed to parents buying their teenagers new cars, just expensive and high performance cars, most 16 year olds can't handle that much power.

User avatar

Flabernat  5y ago

@ BR2+, & Shaggy
I agree, buying a teenager a brand new car is just plain wrong.. Autocross experience may allow them to handle the car's performance much better than your average teen, but on principle, I'm opposed to parents buying teens new cars, especially expensive new cars...

My first car was a 1993 Chevrolet S-10 Pickup. Standard cab, long wheelbase, 4.3 Liter V6, Automatic.

User avatar

Shaggy  5y ago

@Flabernat: It may depend, but I still think 426 horsepower is too much for someone's first car.

User avatar

BR2+  5y ago

A teens first car should not be a 425Bhp performance car, Period, Shouldnt matter ho much money you have, Hell Puff Daddy bought his sons first car to be a Maybch 57 a few years agog....Thats fkn stupid on all levels, And some actually buy there kid a 599 GTB, Not questioning there parenting, But am questioning there decisions.

User avatar

Flabernat  5y ago

@ Shaggy, yeah I agree, that's a bit much for a young teenager... Although, that said, a friend of mine has a teenage daughter who races autocross with him, so I guess it depends...

User avatar

Shaggy  5y ago

@Flabernat: There's a high school kid in town who drives a late model Camaro SS. To me, that seems to be too much car for a 16 year old.

I stumbled on a pretty interesting article. Apparently GM's got some real performance goodies for the Camaro...even HP increases for the base 6.2L V8... Man, what's the newer, lighter, Camaro gonna be like? :)

The camaro is faster than 4.7 to sixty. With the performance exhaust and short throw shifter opted in it's more like 4.4 seconds and it's got 430 hp under the hood.

The front I like, its that end that is plain ghastly, That ugly rear make it look cheap and like a Prelude, They should have kept the older ones but just refreshed them, Like more LEDs in a tighter combo with either a chrome/color/CF/ aluminium trim.

Those similar lights look fine on the older car, but hideous on the new one. So, I think I would have to go over and take my business to Ford....

I really like the way the next generation Camaro looks. :)

User avatar

Flabernat  6y ago

@BR2+, you don't like the refreshed Camaro look?

User avatar

...Uuuugly.

Whoa look at this!

@ Flabernat: I never thought they looked like prelude taillights, but I didn't notice their striking resemblance to those of a '69 Camaro, either.

User avatar

Flabernat  7y ago

@Shaggy,
Yepp! I have to admit when I first saw the '14 refresh I though Prelude taillights, but then realized they're really a throwback to the 69 car(along with a lot of the styling cues). :)

User avatar

Shaggy  7y ago

@ Flabernat: You're right, wow, I've never noticed that before.

User avatar

Flabernat  7y ago

I really like the refresh for 2014. The front looks leaner, and aerodynamic. More of a sports-car look rather than a big muscle-car appearance.
Also, I'm not sure what the fuss is about, the rear taillights are clearly a '69 Camaro inspired.

@ Super8: I agree, they did improve track performance.

I think GM should have set the LT1 engine into Camaro SS, cause LS3 seems to outdated already.

The front and silhouette look impressive. But still can't stand that rear trim with those Prelude lights... If GM designers combined new front and side with the pre-facelited rear, the whole car would look harmonically as a true muscle car.

User avatar

Super8  7y ago

@ Shaggy: Yeah. It's roughly same as previous model. I see only some cosmetic change but they said they improve track performance.

User avatar

Shaggy  7y ago

@ Super8: Awesome machine, but it's the same under the hood.
