Hennessey has announced that it is tuning a c8 corvette. I can't even imagine what kind of monster they create.

Where's the Grattan laptime? Anyway apart from the lackluster performance on Motortrend, I am glad the c8 was faster than the 992 in Thunderhill. If the car manages to be consistently faster than the 992 both on a track and on a straight line while costing half the price, it will be a huge treat. It is also more comfortable than the 911, it has a better sounding naturally aspirated engine, it's a targa even in the base configuration, it has a much better base equipment and maybe also a better infotainment. Porsche has better steering, better brakes and a better gearbox, 4 seats instead of 2, better visibility, maybe a slightly better interior quality and a probably more efficient engine (less c02 emissions). However these advantages that the Porsche has do not make up for the huge price difference. I am rooting for the c8

I expect performance on the track.

Anything Motortrend releases from now on will need to be fact checked. I thought Chevrolet was giving us bullshit hp figures until i saw the Thunderhill West lap and then realised that i couldn't have 558 rear wheel hp.

Corvette C8 Dyno Test the car is making far more power than advertised.

Does weight include both people, vehicles and fuel?

Purely a theoretical Corvette hierarchy:

Trim/Variant level(power)
[Lateral Acceleration]

Stingray (495hp)

Z06 (700-725hp)*

ZR1 (850-950hp)*

ZR1 Zora [special edition] (1000hp)*

The notes say – 0 to 60 mph takes 3.0 seconds with the base model and 2.9 seconds with the Z51 package.
According to what was seen, the Corvette will have a quarter-mile time of 11.3 seconds at 121 miles per hour. We assume that’s the base model.
0 to 100 mph is 7.6 seconds. It doesn’t show a different time for the base or Z51 package.
Maximum lateral G for the base model Corvette C8 was listed at 0.9G. That number increases to 1.0G with the Z51 package.
The base model’s 60 mph to 0 mph braking distance is listed at 115.1 feet. The Z51 Corvette takes 108.4 feet – according to the notes.
3,535 pounds with fluids, and puts on another 42 pounds with the Z51 package, coming in at 3,577 pounds
Maximum speed listed is 193 mph. It doesn’t show any other top speed, nor does it note a difference between the base and Z51 package.

Jalopnik said that Chevy said that this all-american supercar will do 194 mph. Jesus f#$king christ.
By the way, the under 60K price is $59,995, though we all expected that.

So do you think the performance of the Corvette able to compete with the GT3 RS.

User avatar

Corvette is a Lateral acceleration exceeds 1G, but do not know the exact highest numerical value.

How do you guys predict the c8 z06 will do against the 720s?

My prediction is that even though the z06 will be mid engine and probably have around 700hp and a dual clutch transmission like the 720s, it still wont beat or even match it because of power to weight ratio

agree or do you think chevy can maybe pull it off?

Just wait until the Z06 comes out.

some thoughts and rumors:

  • the interior is cheesy from the 90's

  • the rear is kind of meh with the squarish exhaust tips from borla style ?

  • for 60k this will steal the 4-pot cocskter and g-ayman sales big time, let alone the overpriced junk vw-992 lol which will be the beginning of death of the rebadged vw hunchback-911

  • next thing we'll hear from the ass bag ferrari haters that chevy was first to do mid-engine cars with a v8 :)

rumor has it the z06 will be getting the following upgrades:

  • twin turbo
  • after decades of stupidity and cheapness the have finally seen the light and the cylinder head will be converted to dohc instead of ohv
  • no word on manual yet, but if it gets an optional manual it will be the end of vw-911 and their bs overpriced junk gt cars that shares parts from vw h-back grocery getter

if the last part is true with a manual transmission, i might get one too and have to live with that cheesy interior which i might use a duct tape to cover the screen and nonsense buttons. but i hope the z06 gets its interior stripped out without all the jukebox entertainment and dj buttons.

3373 is the dry weight of this car. The curb weight is going to be closer to 3600 lb.

User avatar

mameson  7m ago

Was the codename of c8 not zora?

User avatar

benedekpuskas  7m ago

What's next? Mid-engined Mustang?

User avatar

American Ferrari.

But they should have called it something different (Corvair?) It's not a Corvette, it's entirely different.
