Nurburgring laptime of 7.29.9s, go check it out, it's official.
There is also the Grattan Laptime (1.26.1), although the test didn't seem very reliable (the laptimes were pretty slow).
Btw I hate that this car is not being tested! I get it's partially due to Coronavirus, but it's unacceptable that we only have 5 laptimes! This car needs to be tested for real, on a track ! I am so tired of dragraces on YouTube, this car deserves better

I finally found what I measured in km/h, which is at 5:13 in the footage.
But this wasn't showing the process.

@FastestLaps, check out this beast of an engine.

It’s called the Mercury Racing SB4, from the boat engine manufacturer, however it’s made for automotive applications. It’s based off a Chevrolet LS7 7.0L V8 but it’s got new DOHC 32v heads with more aggressive cams, so it now produces 750 horsepower and 570 LB-FT. It’s also got a n 8,000 RPM redline, but it produces torque at lower speeds. Someone should swap this motor in a C8 Corvette.

So what do you need to go 205 mph in a C8 Stingray? Exhaust, 135hp shot of nitrous and get rid of that rear spoiler for a hairy ride lol

This is the whole Ford VS Chevy argument in a nutshell.

I was looking for YouTube, and along the way, I discovered that c8 corvette succeeded in 0-60 in 2.6 seconds, Every time I discover, it's getting faster and faster.

Is it possible to change the photo with this?

Per the automaker, the street-spec C8 Corvette will achieve 15 miles per gallon in the city and 27 miles per gallon on the highway. It will also boast more engine potency than the C7 model had.

Is there a possibility to announce the Grand Sport?

User avatar

Tests of Corvette with Twin Turbo have already appeared on YouTube.
I am very much looking forward to the straight-line performance of the Corvette with higher horsepower.

Corvette C8 doing some laps at COTA best time on video was 2:37.38 but Hennessey reckons that it did a 2:33 in an earlier session when the track was dry...

rumors say, the z06 will rip the turbo s a new a-hole and it will be fun to watch lol

That Porsche would obliterate any Corvette in a drag race and around a track. You get what you pay for. GM cars are such low quality junk......

User avatar

Tommi95  3m ago @Austin

Listen I love Porsche but credits where it's due. The corvette c8 stingray is as fast as a Porsche 992 Carrera S both in a dragrace and on a track. Check the comparison here on fastestlaps if you don't believe it. It even bested the 992 on the Nurburgring. It costs 60K vs Porsche 115K. The quality is good, the performances are amazing. Porsche's quality is slightly better, and it has a slightly better steering/gearbox. However the Vette is more comfortable and it's a targa. Best value for money? The Vette. Best car overall? Don't know, they are pretty close.
Corvette c8 Z06 vs Porsche Turbo S 992. Both will have around 650hp, but the Vette will be more track-focused and naturally aspirated. Also, it will cost 85K vs Porsche 250K. It will beat the Turbo S on a track and it will match it on a straight line. Even the old c7 Z06 bested the 991.2 Turbo S on a track while costing a third of the price. The Porsche could only win on a straight line. So yes, the c8 Z06 will definitely be faster than the 992 Turbo S on a track, while the Porsche will be the best daily driver. But the Vette will be BY FAR the best bargain.
Then things will get even worse for Porsche. The ZR1 will have about 850hp, which is likely more power than the future GT2RS and now that the Vette is mid-engine, the ZR1 might actually beat it, on track and on a dragrace, while costing half the price. The only way to keep up with an 850hp ZR1 will be to extract at least 780hp from the B6, make the car really light and use cup2R tyres.
Finally the ZORA will have a hybrid system producing around 1000hp. It is rumoured that Porsche is working on a hybrid 911 too, so we will se how Porsche will answer.
But the point is: the new Vette will match every 992 variant on a dragrace and on a track and it will do so while costing half the price. And despite all of this, the quality of the materials will be good nonetheless and so will be the steering/gearbox. Porsche might have slightly better steering and gearbox but the truth is that they are not worth all that money. Porsche just wants you to pay for the brand. Those like you who claim the Vettes are "low quality junk" are either misinformed or delusional or quite simply Corvette haters...

FastestLaps  3m ago @Tommi95

Vette doesn't have all wheel drive. Therefore it won't match many supercars (911 Turbo in particular) in acceleration, because the initial 0-50 time will ruin the numbers.

User avatar

Tommi95  3m ago @FastestLaps

Sorry but I think you're partially wrong. Listen up: first of all, the c8 already does the 0-60 in 2.8s,which is as fast as a 488 Pista. Besides with the new gearbox the Vette is faster also at higher speeds. The base c8 and the 992 Carrera S (which have similar power/weight ratio) are for the first time equally fast on a straight line, both at 0-60mph, 0-120 mph and 1km. This means that the Vette c8 with the new launch control and the new gearbox can match an equally powerful Porsche in acceleration. With 650 hp, the Vette c8 Z06 will likely sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 2.7s. It might lose to the 911 Turbo S in the 0-60 of 0.2s (which is not that important, it's all about launch control) but then it will catch up. The Turbo S has a great launch control, but it is not that fast in the 0-120 mph, it has always been slower than Ferrari 488/Mclaren 650 and 720s, because it's less powerful and quite heavy. The ZR1 with 850hp will probably match the gt2RS (apart from the 0-60). The ZORA thanks to the hybrid system will actually be AWD, like a 918 Spyder, so it will run the 0-60 super fast and then with 1000hp it will blow everything away. I am not making this up btw, Motortrend has described the future models of the c8 thanks to some leaked documents from GM.

An pos beertle with 650 hp

User avatar

As an porsche fan i admit the corvette is by far a better car

User avatar

aaayy  5m ago

This Corvette runs off the LT2 Motor, a 6.2L SOHC V8. All other models of C7 Corvettes used 6.2L V8s, including the ZR1, which had 755 hp. However, Hennessy was able to tune the ZR1 to 1200 hp. So, if you engine swapped this thing for a tuned Chevrolet LT5, you’d basically have a hypercar, either that or a death trap.

If you think about it, this is basically the new NSX. Supercar looks and performance with a bit of reliability for a fraction of the price. Screw that hybrid NSX, I’m getting this.

Where's the Grattan laptime? Anyway apart from the lackluster performance on Motortrend, I am glad the c8 was faster than the 992 in Thunderhill. If the car manages to be consistently faster than the 992 both on a track and on a straight line while costing half the price, it will be a huge treat. It is also more comfortable than the 911, it has a better sounding naturally aspirated engine, it's a targa even in the base configuration, it has a much better base equipment and maybe also a better infotainment. Porsche has better steering, better brakes and a better gearbox, 4 seats instead of 2, better visibility, maybe a slightly better interior quality and a probably more efficient engine (less c02 emissions). However these advantages that the Porsche has do not make up for the huge price difference. I am rooting for the c8
