Is there a possibility to announce the Grand Sport?

User avatar

Cocobe  2w ago

Certainly, just not yet.

User avatar

Tests of Corvette with Twin Turbo have already appeared on YouTube.
I am very much looking forward to the straight-line performance of the Corvette with higher horsepower.

User avatar

FastestLaps  2w ago

As if this regular Corvette doesn't have enough horsepower or straight line performance :D

User avatar

aaayy  2w ago @FastestLaps

Hennessy is aiming for 1200.

User avatar

Imagine a 720hp Z06 mid-engined Corvette for a starting price of $98,000 =)

User avatar

Corvette C8 doing some laps at COTA best time on video was 2:37.38 but Hennessey reckons that it did a 2:33 in an earlier session when the track was dry...

this will kick the vw-911 and put it out of production in no time

Very fast

User avatar

Hennessy is sandbagging with that lap.
Seems like they're trying to make it look slow so the tuned version looks even more improved.

It seems that the official record of Nürburgring has come out.
Is there also a reason not to update?

User avatar

vw-911 engineers will be having a hard time sleeping this year

60k vs 185k lol

With all respect to Chevrolet, but this car's exterior reminds me of some crazy Asian sport car copycats....

chevy switches from front to mid engine and keeps it under 100k, while stupid germans push its pos beetle into 250k plus for the turbo lol

24lk12ohi2bh.jpg?550x800m

rumors say, the z06 will rip the turbo s a new a-hole and it will be fun to watch lol

those bargain deals and the best daily drive vw-911 days are over

This Corvette runs off the LT2 Motor, a 6.2L SOHC V8. All other models of C7 Corvettes used 6.2L V8s, including the ZR1, which had 755 hp. However, Hennessy was able to tune the ZR1 to 1200 hp. So, if you engine swapped this thing for a tuned Chevrolet LT5, you’d basically have a hypercar, either that or a death trap.

Is it called "Corvette C8 Stingray" or rather just "Corvette Stingray"?

User avatar

aaayy  3m ago

If you think about it, this is basically the new NSX. Supercar looks and performance with a bit of reliability for a fraction of the price. Screw that hybrid NSX, I’m getting this.

There is news that the unofficial record for corvette c8 Nurburgring is 7.28.30.

Hennessey has announced that it is tuning a c8 corvette. I can't even imagine what kind of monster they create.

Where's the Grattan laptime? Anyway apart from the lackluster performance on Motortrend, I am glad the c8 was faster than the 992 in Thunderhill. If the car manages to be consistently faster than the 992 both on a track and on a straight line while costing half the price, it will be a huge treat. It is also more comfortable than the 911, it has a better sounding naturally aspirated engine, it's a targa even in the base configuration, it has a much better base equipment and maybe also a better infotainment. Porsche has better steering, better brakes and a better gearbox, 4 seats instead of 2, better visibility, maybe a slightly better interior quality and a probably more efficient engine (less c02 emissions). However these advantages that the Porsche has do not make up for the huge price difference. I am rooting for the c8

I expect performance on the track.

User avatar

SpeedKing  6m ago

Anything Motortrend releases from now on will need to be fact checked. I thought Chevrolet was giving us bullshit hp figures until i saw the Thunderhill West lap and then realised that i couldn't have 558 rear wheel hp.

Corvette C8 Dyno Test the car is making far more power than advertised.

Purely a theoretical Corvette hierarchy:

Trim/Variant level(power)
[Lateral Acceleration]

Stingray (495hp)
1.00g+

Z06 (700-725hp)*
1.15g*

ZR1 (850-950hp)*
1.20g*

ZR1 Zora [special edition] (1000hp)*
1.20g*

*estimated

The notes say – 0 to 60 mph takes 3.0 seconds with the base model and 2.9 seconds with the Z51 package.
According to what was seen, the Corvette will have a quarter-mile time of 11.3 seconds at 121 miles per hour. We assume that’s the base model.
0 to 100 mph is 7.6 seconds. It doesn’t show a different time for the base or Z51 package.
Maximum lateral G for the base model Corvette C8 was listed at 0.9G. That number increases to 1.0G with the Z51 package.
The base model’s 60 mph to 0 mph braking distance is listed at 115.1 feet. The Z51 Corvette takes 108.4 feet – according to the notes.
3,535 pounds with fluids, and puts on another 42 pounds with the Z51 package, coming in at 3,577 pounds
Maximum speed listed is 193 mph. It doesn’t show any other top speed, nor does it note a difference between the base and Z51 package.

User avatar

aaayy  8m ago

Jalopnik said that Chevy said that this all-american supercar will do 194 mph. Jesus f#$king christ.
By the way, the under 60K price is $59,995, though we all expected that.

User avatar

sans  8m ago

So do you think the performance of the Corvette able to compete with the GT3 RS.

User avatar

mameson  8m ago

Corvette is a Lateral acceleration exceeds 1G, but do not know the exact highest numerical value.

User avatar

Broly  8m ago

How do you guys predict the c8 z06 will do against the 720s?

My prediction is that even though the z06 will be mid engine and probably have around 700hp and a dual clutch transmission like the 720s, it still wont beat or even match it because of power to weight ratio

agree or do you think chevy can maybe pull it off?

User avatar

aaayy  9m ago

Just wait until the Z06 comes out.
