Can we change the figures to SAE net?
270hp/390lbft for the LS5 which had 365hp gross, not 425hp.

1971 Corvette production included 14,680 coupes and 7,121 convertibles for a total of 21,801. Of these 188 had the LS6, 5,097 had the LS5, 1,949 had the high revving small block LT1, and all the rest had the standard 350 cubic inch small block with only 270 hp (gross), 200 bhp (net).

The 454 cubic inch engine was available in two forms in 1971. The LS5 with 365 hp, and the LS6 with 425 hp. As Super8 stated the 425 hp engine (gross) was also given an official net rating by General Motors as 325 bhp. The 365 hp (gross) engine had a net rating of 270 bhp.

It's a sexy car except for that hideous lump on the hood. To keep in that 454 no doubt.
