The technological sophistication will always carry a premium, unfortunately. I'm (obviously) tracking the Artura and 296GTB but the Zora/ZR1 is rumoured to be Ferrari SF90 levels of power, twin turbocharged hybrid! As you say, we will see! Pretty hyped regardless!

But ones things for sure they won't be multi million dollars like the Holy Trinity were!🙂

Very nice choice! Rear wheel drive with 5 speed manual transmission and no fancy electronics did accordingly to Zeperfs 12.4 seconds validated to 200km/h, in the 1990's!

Check the 2022 Sport Classic claimed times! That's all I'll say!🧐

Back in the days, straight-line performance figures DID use to be a big deal. Nowadays, it's the laptimes that are important. Straight-line is still important but ONLY to a degree.

2022 is certainly not the same as 2012 or 2002. When the C5Z and C6Z came out, they were just as fast as exotics twice their price in straight-line performance, but the C7Z turned out to be a huge disappointment compared to 488GTB and Huracan (successors to F430/458 and Gallardo 5.0/5.2 which were equal to or slower than C6Z/C6ZR).

The C8Z is going to be on par with old 570S and a little slower than Huracan or 488GTB, but at least faster than NSX Type S, GT-R NISMO, and of course, Viper.

The Dodge Viper in the 1990s used to be faster than EVERYTHING except the select few hypercars, even faster than Ferrari F512M and quicker than Lamborghini Diablo 5.7. In the 2000s, it was downgraded to being a mid-level supercar like F430 and Gallardo, and by the 2010s it was barely an entry-level supercar (if at all). HOWEVER, the last-gen Viper ALSO introduced the ACR Extreme trim, which allowed it to beat EVERY single supercar made before 2016, maybe 2017 on a road course.

Nowadays only Stellantis has bright focus on straight-line performance over road-course performance. Which explains why Ferrari, Maserati, and Dodge do terribly against supposed competitors.

Maximum hill slope angle is 86%, and front braking distribution is 60%. Google search bar predicted accuracy with multiplication of 1.625 rather than other numbers.

In the standing quarter-mile department (of 11.34 seconds), 1.13 G and 0.014 rolling resistance are equal to 1.23 G and 0.062 rolling resistance.

This figure is for the standard model ONLY. The Z07 package variant should complete a lap on this track in ... (see below)

The same Z06 with Z07 package should complete a lap at this track in 6:48, however instead of multiplying by 0.70, I used 0.825 as shown below to provide a relatively accurate result. 0.80 was too optimistic and 0.85 was too pessimistic.

Braking from 300-0km/h (with 300 still being the peak speed) has vastly improved, from 286 meters in the base Z06 version to 255 meters in the Z07 version.

Unlike most Chevy fanboys, I'd say the C8 Z06 is the true spiritual semi-successor to the Enzo, rather than the 458. Similar displacement, similar power, similar 100-200.

C8 Z06 does share two things in common with 458 including flat-plane-crank configuration and dual-clutch transmission, but that's about it. 458 only displaces 4.5L and makes less than 600 hp (though some press cars made 620-640 hp).

The C8 Z06 is this generation's Enzo. Not this generation's 458.

Most importantly, the sophiscation of the Enzo and almost as importantly the performance are now accessible to Corvette owners in the package of a mid-engine, sub-$100k semi-supercar which is basically in the same bracket as a Hellcat Redeye and a Shelby GT500.

As much as I love American cars, this is the first series-production one that is actually good (relative to their European and Asian counterparts). This is the first high-quality Corvette and authentic supercar from Chevy. The rest were all muscle/kit cars. Believe me, you won't see ANYBODY engine-swapping an LT6 flat-planer into their Civic or Bimmer.

This may be the last naturally aspirated Corvette ever, who knows.
