General Motors to off "$5000" dollars to clients who DON'T FLIP their Corvette Z06's.

Quote>"More specifically, it appears the automaker intends to award Z06 buyers $5000 worth of incentives if they retain ownership of the sports car for at least 12 months. GM isn’t planning on cutting loyal owners some checks, but rather it will dole out 500,000 My Chevrolet Rewards points to program members who meet the ownership requirement. These points can be redeemed in place of cash for a number of different things, such as lease payments through GM Financial, vehicle accessories, or dealer service appointments."

So, we are looking at 1689KG perhaps plus? It probably will go over 1700KG.

= 401.78hp/tonne?~ To be confirmed? Based on the former?

Very very interesting indeed!

Back in the days, straight-line performance figures DID use to be a big deal. Nowadays, it's the laptimes that are important. Straight-line is still important but ONLY to a degree.

2022 is certainly not the same as 2012 or 2002. When the C5Z and C6Z came out, they were just as fast as exotics twice their price in straight-line performance, but the C7Z turned out to be a huge disappointment compared to 488GTB and Huracan (successors to F430/458 and Gallardo 5.0/5.2 which were equal to or slower than C6Z/C6ZR).

The C8Z is going to be on par with old 570S and a little slower than Huracan or 488GTB, but at least faster than NSX Type S, GT-R NISMO, and of course, Viper.

The Dodge Viper in the 1990s used to be faster than EVERYTHING except the select few hypercars, even faster than Ferrari F512M and quicker than Lamborghini Diablo 5.7. In the 2000s, it was downgraded to being a mid-level supercar like F430 and Gallardo, and by the 2010s it was barely an entry-level supercar (if at all). HOWEVER, the last-gen Viper ALSO introduced the ACR Extreme trim, which allowed it to beat EVERY single supercar made before 2016, maybe 2017 on a road course.

Nowadays only Stellantis has bright focus on straight-line performance over road-course performance. Which explains why Ferrari, Maserati, and Dodge do terribly against supposed competitors.

My estimated lap times
Motor Trend Figure-8: 22.6 sec @ 1.13 G
Nürburgring Nordschleife: 7:03
Top Gear Test Track (Power Lap): 1:15

How I estimated these lap times
Motor Trend Figure-8: (((((((900/(30/26)x(1730x2.20462262))/0.014)/695))/1)/1.13)x0.860.60)1.625

Maximum hill slope angle is 86%, and front braking distribution is 60%. Google search bar predicted accuracy with multiplication of 1.625 rather than other numbers.

In the standing quarter-mile department (of 11.34 seconds), 1.13 G and 0.014 rolling resistance are equal to 1.23 G and 0.062 rolling resistance.

This figure is for the standard model ONLY. The Z07 package variant should complete a lap on this track in ... (see below)

(((((((900/(30/23)x(1730x2.20462262))/0.062)/695))/1.375)/1.23)x0.96*0.63)

= 21.8 sec @ 1.23 G (!!!)

Nürburgring Nordschleife: ((20600m/(300km/h/(286m*0.3048m))x(1730kg/695hp)/1.13g)x0.0095x0.7

Figure is for non Z07 model.

The same Z06 with Z07 package should complete a lap at this track in 6:48, however instead of multiplying by 0.70, I used 0.825 as shown below to provide a relatively accurate result. 0.80 was too optimistic and 0.85 was too pessimistic.

Braking from 300-0km/h (with 300 still being the peak speed) has vastly improved, from 286 meters in the base Z06 version to 255 meters in the Z07 version.

((20600m/(300km/h/(255m*0.3048m))x(1730kg/695hp)/1.23g)x0.0095x0.825

Top Gear Test Track (Power Lap): Standard: ((3648lb+75kg)/695hp)x((1.75mi)x12)x.86x.775 = 1:15; Z07: ((3648lb+75kg)/695hp)x((1.75mi)x12)x.96x.675 = 1:13.

So forgetting about hypercars for now, the next "baby" SUPERCAR Holy Trinity is Chevrolet Ferrari and McLaren.

Z06.
Artura.
296GTB.
EDIT~ MC20.

So I guess there's more! LOL!

In terms of performance obviously two twin turbocharged hybrids vs a naturally aspirated V8, but still their battles will be fascinating.

So will the arguments about tyre choices and power to weight levels etc! That's fine, it's Fastestlaps tradition, LOL!
