Anyone know that FARADAY FX SUPER ONE has been released? This is simply too funny for Chinese people. They just take WEY ALPINE 9 and replace some small parts with FARADAY logo to sell it in the US. It is said that YT Jia has signed a cooperation agreement with four Chinese brands, so maybe this is just the beginning...
The man is a well-known financial crook in China. About a decade ago he separated the car manufacturing industry from debt through capital operation and fled to the US. His most famous saying is "I will return to China next week." Faraday has sold less than 20 FF91s since then, It basically makes money by stock market financial manipulation. The R&D funds are only a few million $ a year and now it has become a CKD enterprise of Chinese brands, which, given the timing for both side seems both inevitable and hilarious. The most interesting thing is that before the pandemic, Faraday was named by the US gov as "one of the advanced manufacturing industry" that needs to prevent China's technology acquisition, but now it has begun to blatantly sell banned Chinese-branded electric cars in the United States. The car is from GWM, called WEY ALPINE 9(魏牌高山9) All I know before was Jia some how import about 30 of this into the US at about the begining of the year, never did I thought he has the audacity to actually sell the damn thing. The car is fine tho, it sold 5000 last month in CN market at the price of 50k-60k, so consider youself lucky than EU consumers if Jia's asking anything less than 80k.
And I'm not sure if GWM is really cooperating with Faraday in this or just allows it to happen, anyway, it's fun to see how things play out.
Correction——it's ALPINE 8, not 9, so 8 inch shorter and the price range is about $ 42-50K in CN market. I was confused by FX's own page——the simplified chinese intro text is a balant copy from WEY's, which refers it directly as the ALPINE 9, so faraday didnt quite figure it out either.
