This is a fast and beautiful car. Unfortunately, like all modern Jaguars, no manual transmission is available. I really find automatic transmissions boring (even paddle shifted ones). There just isn\'t enough challenge or driver involvement without a clutch in my opinion. I still have one of my old Jaguars, but would not purchase another unless Jaguar decided to make another true sports car (like the E-type) with an honest six speed manual transmission to make it entertaining. This was one of the reasons I ultimately traded off my XK8 coupe.

I have a new XKR which has been remapped and fitted with new exhausts, taking it to 600HP, i have owned Beamers,Ferrari\'s, Lambos and Astons and i would say that this is by far quicker than all of them! not track tested yet though.

i wouldnt say they want too keep there cars off a race track, not if there offering a Spped and Black pack to the XKR.

As an XKR owner I can tell you that the actual performance of the XKR doesn't match their weight and power specifications. Jaguar's various computers throughout the car regulated the car's performance downward to restrict performance and is highly restrictive against modifications to increase performance.
Jaguar continues it's commitment to keeping their cars off race tracks by making them fundamentally incapable of being competitive and use their ECUs to block corrective modifications.

Do you know what language that is?

It also out-performs the M6 in every possible way.

Whenever someone mentions that they "beat" a faster car in a street race....just ignore them. It means nothing.

Drive it.Then talk.
Good idea, then you wouldn't be spouting incorrect representations of the Mustang.

The XKR has as much in common with an Ford Mustang as a Mustang has with build quality and good road performance-nothing. It´s getting boring to read here from people with no knowledge at all about the cars there talking about. Drive it.Then talk.

What are you kiding? bumrush is right, the right drivers can make all the difference, put an average driver in the R8 V10, and a Pro driver in the XKR, and watch the V10 get beat, now revrese them, and see which one wins, you sir, DirtDoc1, are the Ass, what an Idiot.

@Georg
Track times don't have alot to do with real world conditons. Did you notice that I said from 70 to 160? Besides the XKR's numbers are right in the range of the R8 V10. There is very little data on both cars so throwing numbers back and forth doesn't mean much this early in the game. I have no reason to make up stories. It lost, live with it.

I raced a new R8 V10 and it could not keep up to the 2010 XKR from 70 to about 160. Car & Driver has the XKR from 0-60 at 4.0s, 0-100 in 8.8s and the 1/4 mile in 12.3s. I think we will see even better numbers with future tests. It also out-performs the M6 in every possible way.

according to Jaguar the XKR weights 1800kg with NO options..
http://www.jaguar.com/de/de/#/xk/specifications
and yes the XKR is 140kg more heavy than the XK 1660kg (~3670lbs.)
Anonymous 10y ago
the 420bhp XKR's weight has ben tested to be 3671, yet this 1's between 3-500lbs heavyier?
Anonymous 10y ago
According to the Jaguar website...
XKR coupe = 3,968lbs.
XKR conv. = 4,079lbs.
I don't know what the actual "as tested" weight would be but it IS a bit heavy.
