Maserati wasn't exactly competitive with Germans from the start. It (and Jaguar, as well) didn't really start carrying the establishment card until they've revolved their lineups around EVs. A significantly smaller EV replacement (which WILL replace BOTH the current, full-size Quattroporte AND the midsize Ghibli) will be called Quattroporte Folgore, and it will be significantly quicker than any Trofeo model on sale.

The Quattroporte will remain in F-segment but not compete with the Big3 barges (Audi A8, BMW 7 Series, Mercedes S-Class).

It will be downgraded to compete with the liftbacks (Lucid Air, Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe, Porsche Panamera), fastbacks (BMW 8 Series Gran Coupe), and entry-level barges (Genesis G90 and Lexus LS) in that segment.

Just a little heads up, the platform of the current-gen Quattroporte is "technically" the same as the Ghibli, but in reality it's almost a completely different car. Almost. For real, only the chassis and the powertrain are the same.

The Ghibli not only has a much shorter wheelbase, but a much smaller luggage capacity. It may not completely be a rebadged Chrysler 300 or Dodge Charger, but it carries a lot of that interior quality from them. It carries almost every optional feature from those cars as "standard".

The Quattroporte makes the Ghibli look like an Altima. As a matter of fact (and not of opinion), the Quattroporte is a pure Maserati. The Ghibli is a rebadged 300 with a slightly sportier suspension, while retaining the same interior and build qualities.
