Not really allowed. In 1997 the highest class of endurance racing was LMP, not LMGT1

not really. An LMP car qualified on pole, but the next 7 positions were LMGT1 cars before the next LMP car.

The Porsche WSC-95 ended up winning the race. The F1, although a lower class, technically speaking, had a lot of pace. Just because a car wins, doesn't mean it's the top class. LMGT1 was the highest class for 1994 and 1995, the gap between Group C and LMP. LMP cars are not consistently able to win until 1999.

the F1 short tail was already added by a mod so I thought I'd add the long tail

I mean, is LMP really the top class if it is beaten by GT1 cars both in qualifying and in the race? The podiums were mostly GT1 cars.

If the GT1 cars beat out EVERY LMP car except 1... does the LMP class actually mean it is superior?

In 1998, GT1 cars WIPED the floor with the LMP cars. then how is LMP superior?
1999 and onwards, they removed the GT1 class, not that it was inferior...
