2016 I suspect it was before "Mercedes-AMG" name (as a make) was "invented"
FastestLaps 2w ago @koenigseggjesko
Its super easy - just enter Mercedes-AMG as make name. But the question is, do I need to change it, is it correct to call it Mercedes-AMG before Mercedes had this branding?
What year did they change Mercedes Benz Blah blah AMG to Mercedes-AMG Blah Blah
koenigseggjesko 2w ago @FastestLaps
Mercedes-AMG was founded on June 1, 1967.
It was started by two former Mercedes-Benz engineers, Hans Werner Aufrecht and Erhard Melcher. The name "AMG" is an acronym derived from their last names and Aufrecht's birthplace:
A: Aufrecht
M: Melcher
G: Großaspach (the town in Germany where the company was first headquartered)
Originally established as an independent engineering firm specializing in performance improvements for Mercedes-Benz vehicles, it eventually became a wholly owned subsidiary of Mercedes-Benz in 2005.

I know that but it wasn't "Mercedes-AMG" since 2005. This naming appeared much later.

I’m not to sure, but currently I’m busy

Don’t know where they came from, but they aren’t invited.😈

Ik, usually I leave ant colonies alone in my house. But this is too much.

They have inexplainable "hive mind" intelligence in how they find way into house and around obstacles.

You're right about it appearing later than 2005, though not much later lol.
"In late 2011, after the end of the Formula One season, Mercedes GP Petronas announced that it would be using the AMG branding for its F1 efforts, changing its name to Mercedes AMG Petronas from the 2012 season onwards." - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mercedes-AMG taken from https://www.autosport.com/f1/news/mercedes-adds-amg-moniker-to-formula-1-team-name-4453004/4453004/
All F1 Mercs are Mercedes-AMG from 2012 onwards.
I dug this up before btw, but the Mercedes-AMG branding first started with the SLS AMG in 2010, the first ever truly independently made AMG car. This continued with the AMG GT, and then the Mercedes umbrella made the official transition to AMG cars being under the AMG branding exclusively after the release of the AMG GT. This move came despite the fact the other cars were not specifically made by AMG unlike the SLS and GT. This is also endorsed by the fact the first Mercedes-AMG dealer for exclusively AMG cars, was opened in Sydney, Australia in December 2017. The cars were sold under Mercedes-Benz until this date. AMG was a tuning company and did more than just Mercedes cars until full acquisition in like 2005 by Mercedes-Benz.
So in saying that, all customer cars prior to the AMG GT bar only the SLS are still truly Mercedes-Benz AMG cars, but after the AMG GT, so around September 9th, 2014 to March 2015 onwards, they're Mercedes-AMG cars. If you want something definitive as to what is a Mercedes-Benz and what's a Mercedes-AMG, this is probably the best way to define it as it follows the company's own direction.
