Technically the redline is 6000rpm, but theoretically the fuel cut-off is at around 6350rpm where it reaches top speed.

Mercedes Benz AMG SL65 (prototype)

Top speed= 348km/h/216.237MPH!
0-300km/h= 37.3 seconds

Just when you think you've found it all a Mercedes hits just under 217MPH!

I ALWAYS rated the SL55 more. Shaking my head I never knew all this crazy stuff!! Yeah 100% knew about the Black Series but that's yet to flourish!

Keep telling you all, Benz are that good!

Auto, Motor und Sport Nardo Highspeed-Test 2004

Mercedes SL65 AMG (de-limited, but production stock)

0-100 (62 mph) kph: 3.9 sec
0-200 (124 mph) kph 12 sec
0-300 (186 mph) kph 31.9 sec

Top speed: 338 km/h (210 mph)

The Source for these would you believe was VW Vortex. LOL!

I've confirmed the top speed plus the 0-300km/h time at Zeperfs.

Unfortunately, I cannot as yet locate a scan but I'll keep looking. And the Amus website is infuriating to use.

But getting to the point this is a 'kin cool car. And I bet it costs alot less than the Mercedes SLR. Not at as quick to 200km/h but after that reels it in and seemingly matches it to 300km/h onwards.

Mercedes are incredible. Hatchback to Hypercar NOBODY touches that breadth. ;)

Ah, back when 612 PS were genuinely impressive and nothing you've ever seen before. Nowadays we have literal horsepower wars.

User avatar

Dr C  2y ago

If you run track tires and launch correctly the vehicle is very fast. Torque at any speed add Renntech and few cars can get close.

Dr cosimo you are brimfull of manure.

one of the most overrated cars that couldn't put down jack shit down to the ground lol

In what car?..

User avatar

Flabernat  10y ago

Fastest I've ever been in a car was about 150mph, on the front straight at Laguna Seca. I was riding shotgun while Randy Pobst was behind the wheel :D

User avatar

Super8  10y ago

My fastest speed when I drive by myself is when I hit full speed of my Galaxie. It's about 150 mph but I don't much know when inside the car because it have 140 mph speedometer. However my fastest speed is 169.8 mph when my dad drive his LS6 Chevelle SS right after he bought an aftermarket transmission and clutch. I sat beside my dad while my brother on rear seat.

User avatar

Hamcee  10y ago

i think iam averaging 140mph at the moment lol.
have to drive on the autobahn on a daily basis.

fastest was 155mph as my car is restricted but it probably wont go faster anyway

User avatar

Fangio Man  10y ago

The fastest I have ever driven is 215 kph (134 mph), I sat on the passenger seat, my uncle was driving.

User avatar

Shaggy  10y ago

Me neither, the fastest I've ever driven is 111 MPH on an empty, unpatrolled highway at 5:45 in the morning in a rush to make it to work on time in my 2008 Dodge Dakota, I don't ever have to do that again on a road.

User avatar

Viking  10y ago

I have to say, I have never come close to driving 210 mph! 130-140 mph a few times, and then only briefly. Sustained speed I have only done 100-125 mph where it was legal to do so (autobahn). :)

User avatar

Shaggy  10y ago

@ DeDe: Holy Crap! 8O

User avatar

DeDe  10y ago

1 mph = 1,60934 km/h

So 338 kph is 210,0mph.

User avatar

Shaggy  10y ago

I don't know how fast 338 kilometers per hour is, but I do know 300 KPH is 186 MPH, so 338 KPH must be well over 200 MPH, impressive.

User avatar

DeDe  10y ago

It was available with a 300 kph-limit option. However, when AMS tested the car at Nardo it did only 298. After removing the limiter they were able to get a 0-300 kph time of 31,9 s and reached a topspeed of 338 kph.

User avatar

Fangio Man  10y ago

0-300 kph? This thing is restricted at 250 kph. Or was a restriction at 300 kph, or without restriction, also available for this car?

User avatar

0-300kmh 31.9s  13y ago

yeah that\'s very impressive time faster than zr1 and lp640!

have I writen somewere that they are bad?
I only have claimed auto motor und sport is better than most US and UK magazines... they never ever publish unconfirmed laptimes like so many UK magazines(nearly all do that)...they never ever publish factory claimed laptimes driven by factory race drivers with "production" cars long befor they went into real production..etc. etc.

User avatar

Anonymous  14y ago

You say that like all magz in the US and UK r bad.

User avatar

Georg  14y ago

the 0-200km/h time was driven by auto motor und sport...a pretty serious car magazine. Much better than most US or UK magazines..
