It’s actually pretty interesting. A 600 mile range when using both hydrogen fuel cells and battery, or just 300 miles on battery alone, in case there aren’t any hydrogen stations. This allows it to operate in environments down to -20 degrees Fahrenheit without major losses, because fuel cells don’t lose range in cold climates.
The system “only” makes 906 horsepower at its peak. It only 455 horsepower all the time. It a pretty-large-on-it’s-own 160 kWh lithium-ion battery with a 120 kWh fuel cell, and it blends the powder from the two sources through a Supercapacitor Launch Assist system.
The whole system makes it so the truck can launch from a standstill on a 30% grade towing a fully-loaded trailer and with a combined vehicle weight of 18,000 LBS, without experiencing stalling. Without any load, the Badger will launch from 0-60 in 2.9 seconds.
