LL, the reason why it lost is heat, causing the engine to lose a lot of power.
The higher the pressure is on a turbo engine, the more easily fuel is ignited before the pistons are ready to get the maximum power. The BMW is least affected because it has a 4.4L engine, and is tuned less aggressively.

Ever wonder sedan version of GT-R?
According to Nissan it will become Infiniti rather than GT-R

I'm sure that GTR is a very fast car in its own right. And I'm also sure it's one of the most bang for buck performance cars out there. If I'm not wrong, the GTR was designed and built more for the track and taking on the corners than for the straights. Let's just appreciate the GTR for what it is and can offer. I have seen quite a few GTRs modded to high/crazy powers for drag/track and still running strong. However, there's always a faster car out there. Peace.

LL 6y ago
@Saxy I understand your point. To be honest, I was also quite shocked that the GTR lost to the Bentley. But, there are also other factors to consider in a drag race. On the other hand, it should be a different story on track. Having said that, I'm not an expert in this but I'm pretty sure the Nissan engineers should know what they were doing. Well, there's always room for improvement for any car model since nothing is perfect.

saxy 6y ago
that's ridiculous. nobody is saying the that the GTR isn't fast. It's just absurd how it got killed by the bentley which has a 4.0L engine, while the GTR has a 3.8L. but the GTR weighs a lot less and has more power.
yeah, heat is an issue for all TC cars, that's why you add bigger or smarter ways to cool, like how Mercedes did, or how Mclaren tested the P1 in Death Valley.

LL 6y ago
Every car has its strengths and weaknesses. Like what said, it all comes down to individual preference. As usual, haters will hate. But, that doesn't mean the car itself isn't good in real. To be fair, we should give the basic respect and credit to what the GTR has/had achieved so far, competing with the ''big boys''. The same goes to other performance cars out there, whether they're from Europe, US or Japan.

LL 6y ago
@Saxy Heat can be an issue for all TC cars if the cooling isn't done properly. And, there's no replacement for displacement. In the Top Gear Australia episode, the Bentley has more cylinders and displacement so it eventually overtook the GTR. But, the GTR was fastest off the line and fastest on the track. Having said that, all the three Top Gear hosts were still impressed with the 3 cars.

I spen 10 years in UAE. When the temperature is 35 outside gtr is ok for 3/4 laps, after the turbo is going down and the car is dead. After 5 laps Carrera S 400hp is overtaking. I am not speaking about 40 degrees.

The figures indicate that this car would beat current production Ferrari and Porsches.

Not here I don't think? But head over to NAGTROC for all the low down... Supposed to be a big press launch...

Nismo GTR 7:08.7... Great time, will wait and see what it can do on smaller tracks, before I pass judgement...

"laferrari is already known to be the fastest serial hypercar."
Yeah? Luca di Montezemolo personally told you that? LOL
And in fact, such an event isn't that much impossible. If Someone Really wanted, it could actually happen despite any difficulties.
And if you are not willing to see such a fair car Competition, then you aren't even a car enthusiast.

grigio 8y ago
mental, your idea is total bullshit. do you even realize how much all that organization would cost? Any motor trend or car and driver dont have power to hold such a serious event. and the counted automakers wont even bother paying attention to the stats they already know about.
moreover, its just a waste of time. laferrari is already known to be the fastest serial hypercar.
