So, even with the turbocharged 251 HP DOHC V6, the Leopard V30 Turbo was not an exceptionally fast car, not even for its class. But at the time, you would have been getting one of the most advanced cars on the market if you had bought one in Japan. ABS was still a fairly rare feature on cars even by the late 80s, but the Leopard had that feature since 1986 on select trims and was one of the first cars to feature an ABS system. The car also came with other features, such as fully electronic climate regulation with digital controls, fully power adjustable seats, advanced speed sensitive power steering, as well as electronic cruise control. All in all, this made the Leopard one of the most advanced cars on the market at the time!

The Leopard V30 Turbo was actually fast for the time. Most cars of the time had less than 100 hp. Even four wheel disc brakes were not common.

It was brisk, but even by the standard of 1988 personal luxury coupes, it was not the fastest. There were plenty of quicker/faster cars in its class, but the Leopard was probably the most advanced in its class (besides the r129 if you even count that as a competitor).

In 1988 I was driving a (Suzuki made) Chevy Sprint ER with a five speed manual. It had 48 hp and had a top speed of only 87 mph.
