1991 corolla GT APEX with 1.6L non turbo pushes out 118kw with no turbos, its faster than this 2.0L car.

Randomly seeing this kadett reminded me of a seemingly endless battle between BMW E30 and the 'superboss' (kadett GSI). Those plus vw golf were only cars we were able to afford, if any , towards end of school (i lived in germany for 10 years) Honest , light cars with none of this crash zone, airbag, sat nav stuff making our cars far too heavy. Nowadays we pay money for options and even more money on top of that to get those same options removed.. Miss good old 90s !

..but seriously , it is supposed to be a 180 kw one. Must be a cup light one :

Check out the acceleration of a turbo charged kadett, simply INSANE !

A 1.6L 20v corolla which weighs about the same, pushes 118kw. it should be this 2.0L car!

Take a look at this one, as for being the fastest hot hatch at the time. 1.5 liters engine..

what car tested one of the first 1988 16v models without the cat it was much faster they stated:
0-60 6.9
0-100 18.2
30-70 6.4
top speed 132 mph
this was the 156 bhp, the only Hothatch that could keep with it at the time was the MG Maestro Turbo, had faster 0-60 time of 6.6, slower top end at 128 mph. had 150 bhp but loads of tourqe if i remember 170ish! which when you consider the weight of cars then its mid range must of been superb.
the 150bhp with Cat was tested again by what car in 1991
0-60 7.7
0-100 19.2
30-70 7.4

I think that if you search for real road tests, like this http://home.worldonline.co.za/~blomje/KADETT%20GSi%2016V%20September%201989.html
You will find time of 0-100 kmh to be somewhere in the region 7,2-7,5 sec and 0-160 kmh about 18 sec. Quarter mile about 15,5. Remember, there were two versions of Kadett GSi 16v- with catalyst 150 PS and without 156 PS

This and the previous generation of Opel cars gave Opel the bad name that current Opel cars don't deserve.
Actually, it is believed that in quite winter nights the only sound you can hear is the sound of Opels rusting near by.
It is a stupid joke but it ilustrates how bad the quality and rust-proofing was.

Sure it was fast, but:
- the shock absorbers lasted 100 km
- the whole car was just consumed by rust when it was 8 years old.
